The party of small government strikes again

Anyone who dares to open a business should have an appointed government minder, to make sure they're doing it right.

And the absolutist academic makes his voice heard.

The legislation (Senate Bill 106/House Bill 35) would require most businesses to accept cash payments and prohibit them from charging a fee or placing conditions on accepting cash. They’d have to accept cash for “any transaction involving the purchase of any tangible good or any service.”

It would apply to any business operating at a fixed physical location, from a vehicle or other mobile space, or from temporary physical premises.

And it would cover transactions in which the customer is physically present at the place of business. It would not apply to sales that are not conducted in person, including phone, mail and online transactions.

The party of small government and more freedom is again attempting to tell business how they must operate and taking away their freedom to operate in their own best interest. And they are doing so with the help of the Dems who at least do not pretend to support either of those things.
/----/ That's twisted logic, even by your low standards. People should have a choice in using legal tender. There are those who don't use credit or debit cards. CCs also leave a paper trail. Cash doesn't.

Once again the false equivalency of "wanting small government = wanting no government"

Since the currency is government issued and regulated, how is this an example of government overreach?

GolfingGator: Holding the right to impossible standards while letting the left mutilate and drug kids as long as he "Gets teh Trumpers" since 2020!
How can you dictate to customers that government issued tender is not allowed in their business?

Bullshit.

All the places I see doing this are trendy "limo liberal" type places.

And they are still doing it because it is cheaper and easier and takes away any chance of someone trying to rob them for their cash on hand.

Remember "traveler's cheques"? :)

They do have a choice, they can go to business that accept cash. There are a few places close to me that only take cash, should they be forced to take cards as well?

And how do you think an armed robber will react when they are told there is no cash for them to rob?

next step, beat up the workers, or try to rob the customers.

All robbers of course check the sign in the front to verify the place takes cash......

Cards aren't legal tender.

Cash is the baseline, Sector 001, Alpha and Omega.

One other thing about cards is, those greedy fucks might charge you for using them

More and more the government has access to what we do. In all ways of living. And Progs keep saying freedoms.

There's a reason our money says "legal tender for all debts public and private". Your fascism doesn't change that.

FACT

I cannot recall the last time I paid cash for anything. We are going to Panama next month and they are pretty much a cash only society so that will be a change for us.
/---/ GG, while there, take our canal back for us. Those clowns have ruined it.

Bullshit. These laws are about places that admit the public in to do business, and our legal tender is by law for all debts public and private.
That law still holds. But if you haven't incurred a debt, it doesn't apply.

/---/ GG, while there, take our canal back for us. Those clowns have ruined it.

The changing climate has done that.

People can argue all day long what the cause is, but the fact it is happening is not more apparent than there. I was just reading yesterday about some of the solutions and they are all very expensive and going to take years

My card represents all my legal tender. I should not be forced to carry cash just to buy some doughnuts.

If it is good for the Govt to do it one way, it should be ok the other way
/---/ No one is forcing you to use cash. You have "CHOICE." Cash or credit or debit. I thought Libs were all about CHOICE.
