The Unpardonable Sins
manmade.jpg

Eternal sins, Unforgivable sins, Unpardonable sins, or Ultimate sins are which are not forgiven by God
What counts as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?
The unpardonable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
Blasphemy includes ridicule and attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to the devil.

Matthew 12:30-33 (NKJV) He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.
Matthew 12: 31 "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
Matthew 12: 33 "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

Romans 1:28-32 (NKJV) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Hebrews 6:4-6 (NKJV) For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

Revelation 11:7-8 (NKJV)
When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.
And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Hebrews 10:28-31 (NKJV) Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The LORD will judge His people."
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Mark 3:29 (KJV) But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Leviticus 17:11-12 (NKJV) For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.' Therefore, I said to the children of Israel, 'No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who dwells among you eat blood.'

Ezekiel 33:4-6 (ESV) if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life.
But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.

1 Corinthians 2:7-11 (ESV) But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.
None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except for the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

All organized religion is contrary to the teachings of the bible. Go wrap yourself in the arms of your church. You have no more insight to the thoughts of God than any other person.

The unpardonable sin, AKA "Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" could have only been committed before the Pentacost, and only at the time Jesus walked the earth. At that time, a group of scribes upon witnessing Jesus cast out some demons, attributed it to Satan.

So if a person is a believer in Christ, all sins will be forgiven. The only "unforgivable" sins are those which the non-believers take with them to the grave.

and who better than Christ of all wisdom
my Church is not in this world

Too many people saw Christ raising the dead, healing the lame, curing the blind to try to lie about it, so the Pharisees attributed Christ's power to work miracles to Satan instead of the Holy Spirit and that really pissed God off. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit isn't real relevant in today's society, but it is the only unforgivable sin. God wants to forgive us so badly that He forgives us while we are in the act of sinning.
King David had a friend murdered, so he could have sex with the man's wife. And yet, God called David the apple of His eye. Because David had a repentant heart, and hated his own sins.
Our Father loves us and will forgive us anything, if we ask, sincerely.

Christ expected them to be man made. So was the Temple He preached in. The one He called His Father's House. We gather so as not to forsake the assembly. To lift one another up in Christ.
We have some amazing churches that abide in Christ. And we have lots more that are so worldly I'm surprised they don't burst into flames...

The unpardonable sin is to willfully deny and defy the Holy Ghost after having received His witness.

No man can sin against light until he has it; nor against the Holy Ghost, until after he has received it by the gift of God through the appointed channel or way. To sin against the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, the Witness of the Father and the Son, willfully denying him and defying him, after having received him, constitutes [the unpardonable sin].

No man can possibly commit the unpardonable sin in ignorance. A man must be brought to a knowledge of Christ; he must receive a testimony of Christ in his heart, and possess light and power, knowledge and understanding, before he is capable of committing that sin. But when a man turns away from the truth, violates the knowledge that he has received, tramples it under his feet, puts Christ again to open shame, denies His atonement, denies the power of the resurrection, denies the miracles that He has wrought for the salvation of the human family, and says in his heart, “It is not true”, and abides in that denial of the truth, after having received the testimony of the Spirit, he commits the unpardonable sin.

[Following the Savior’s Crucifixion,] why were [the Apostles] forgetful and seemingly ignorant of all they had been taught by the Savior respecting the objects of his mission to the earth? Because they lacked one important qualification, they had not yet been “endowed with power from on high.” [See Luke 24:49.] They had not yet obtained the gift of the Holy Ghost. …

If the disciples had been endowed with the “gift of the Holy Ghost,” or “with power from on high,” at this time, their course would have been altogether different … , as the sequel abundantly proved. If Peter, who was the chief apostle, had received the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the power and testimony thereof prior to the terrible night on which he cursed and swore and denied his Lord [see Matthew 26:69–75], the result would have been very different with him, for then he would have sinned against “light and knowledge,” and “against the Holy Ghost,” for which there is no forgiveness. The fact, therefore, that he was forgiven, after bitter tears of repentance, is an evidence that he was without the witness of the Holy Ghost, never having received it. The other disciples or apostles of Christ were precisely in the same condition, and it was not until the evening of the day on which Jesus came out of the grave that he bestowed upon them this inestimable gift [see John 20:22].18

Just before the risen Redeemer left the earth he commanded his disciples to tarry in the city of Jerusalem until they should be endowed with power from on high. They did so, and agreeable to promise, the Comforter came whilst they were met together, filling their hearts with unspeakable joy, insomuch that they spake in tongues and prophesied; and the inspiring influence of this holy being accompanied them in all their ministerial duties, enabling them to perform the great mission to which they had been called by the Savior.

Saul, of Tarsus, possessing extraordinary intelligence and learning, brought up at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the perfect manner of the law, persecuted the Saints unto death, binding and delivering unto prisons both men and women; and when the blood of the Martyr Stephen was shed, Saul stood by keeping the raiment of those who slew him, and consented unto his death. And “he made havoc of the Church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.” [Acts 8:3.] And when they were put to death, he gave his voice against them, and he “punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, persecuted them even unto strange cities,” [Acts 26:11] and yet this man committed no unpardonable sin, because he knew not the Holy Ghost.

If any people on earth are capable of committing the unpardonable sin, you will find them among those who have, or will, come to a knowledge of the truth. … You and I have received the light. We have received the Holy Priesthood. We have received the testimony of the Holy Spirit, and have been brought from death unto life. Therefore, we are now on very safe or on dangerous ground,—dangerous if we are trifling with these sacred things that have been committed to our care. Hence I warn you, my brethren and sisters, especially my brethren, against trifling with your [priesthood]. … If you do, as God lives He will withdraw His Spirit from you, and the time will come when you will be found kicking against the light and knowledge which you have received, and you may become sons of perdition. Therefore, you had better beware lest the second death shall be passed upon you.

This is the Douay Rheims --Catholic--version of the passage in question

"Therefore I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit shall not be forgiven. 32And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come.

It is my understanding the Catholic Church always taught (yet the Church appears to be divided...) that the unforgivable sin is rejecting salvation, rejecting Christ to the very end of one's life.

That would definitely be blasphemy of the Holy Ghost, as it is the Holy Spirit that tells a person that something is true or not (something like: You need to repent). And when you go against truth.. you are in hot water. . esp if you do so until the end of your life.

But this psg does mention speaking against the Holy Spirit, which seems to be a somewhat different thing than (though not entirely).. rejecting Christ.

At this time, I do not know what to make of this discrepancy. But again, Jesus gave us a Church, an indefectible Church (Mt 16:18) and so when we do not understand Scirpture, we turn to the Church that produced it (put it together)

no, not just ask... we have to forsake those sins, for life. You can ask all you want but if you do not, as the Catholics say, "have a firm purpose of amendment" you are still in your sin after asking...

Sincere, genuine repentence means hating the sin you have committed and walking away from it. It is why I referenced David. He hated his sins so much even though he was forgiven, he said his sins were always right in front of his face.
Repent. Re-Pent. It means to return to the highest level, as in pent house. If you are sincere and turn away from your sin, nothing will stop our Father from forgiving us. If you confess every Sunday, and are drunk and on the prowl again next Sat. God doesn't consider that sincere. He Judges our hearts, not our mouths.
Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

If you confess every Sunday,
Why do you confess to a priest? I confess directly to the Lord multiple times every day. The most important things I do every day are thanking Him for the blessings that I have and asking forgiveness from Him. I can't ask for anymore--and the priest has nothing to do with my relationship to Him.

It's Catholic dogma.
You don't need a third party. You have it absolutely right.

There is grace to be had in sacramental confession to a priest. I do not speak of a novus ordo priest. I have been to them for confession and... words fail but suffice it to say it was NOT an edifying experience. That may be because there are no validly ordained priests anymore. Vatican II was highjacked by unbelievers in 1958. But if you can find a REAL priest who is ordained, say in the SSPX or Sedevacantist Catholic Church, that's different. If none of those are available, Catholics have always been free to confess directly to God and have been encouraged to do so.. They are advised to pray the Act of Contrition prayer.

Protestants would throw out ALL structures the Original Church provided... and what do they do when they have thrown them all out? They proceed to install.. What? Structures! And some of those structures actually resemble Catholic ones! But OMG OMG! Do NOT say that, do not say that to them! It's the ultimate insult... doesn't matter that it is true. (In other words, they re-invent the wheel)

That's the religion of liberalism.

We'll see if that kind of thing (recycling properly) impresses Jesus who said that Whatever you do to the least of His People, you do to HIM

notice Jesus is about such things as how we treat other humans... not how we treat trash.

whoda thunk?
