"Poor people do better if you cut their benefits"

They do.

The desire to survive is the greatest tool for motivation.

Sorry you cant grasp that.

I did when I was dead broke and had to survive on my own.

It worked quite well for me.

"If you've got a business—you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Spoken by someone who clearly never built anything.

It's easy to take a statement like that, standing alone, seem like something it was never intended to represent. But when the full context is revealed, so is the truth.

Here is the quote in its full context"

"Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that [the roads and bridges]. Somebody else made that happen."

Some folks might think you don't know what the phuck you're talking about. But, hey, I know you must not have done due diligence and checked that out properly, right? You wouldn't try to mislead others on purpose now, would you?

"You didn't build that" refers to your business. That was the point of the entire statement, that businessmen don't deserve credit for creating their businesses.

The government is....US
We the People

Your business does not exist without the investment of We the People

It's remarkable how far you morons will go to defend the stupid shit Obama says. The fact is, roads are bridges would never have needed to be built if it had not been for private citizens and free market capitalism.

Talk about dumb statements

Businesses survive off of the society around them. They need to move goods and services. They need to be accessable to their clients. They need a communications and power infrastructure. They need an educated workforce

We the People provide that

Which came first, businesses or government?

Only a true partisan would troll with with a thread such as this. The fact that no business can succeed, or even get off the ground, without the basic infrastructure of roads, sewage, water, electricity and fire protection is obvious. Well, maybe a bordello or an opium den.

That's just plain bullshit. There was no "infrastructure" when the first textile mills were built and the first coal mines. When the infrastructure was built, private industry did it themselves. The earliest canals and railroads were all built with private money.

Only a concrete thinker would thank you for this ridiculous piece of trolling, not only is it as stale as month old bread, it is one more example of a person with nothing to offer posting nothing of substance. That alone should garner you much acclaim from the echo chamber.

The truth hurts, eh?

Obama talks like there was no business before the government built the interstate.

Business has always relied on Government to protect their interests. Why do you think we have wars?

What war was fought to protect a business? And what business was protected?

Post the entire statement and then say that....

The full statement only makes Obama look worse.

He rambles on about roads and bridges and schools and then says THE RICH should pay "a little bit more" for them.

Because as we all know, only the rich use roads and bridges and schools and should therefore be the only ones to pay more for them...

It's textbook class warfare populist rhetoric.

The rich profit off of our roads and bridges more than the middle class does

If you have a business, those roads and bridges allow you to move goods and services at low cost and increase your profit

why don't you save yourself trouble and simply say...

"I have absolutely no idea how economics works in a free market environment"...

Because your post that I just quoted says EXACTLY THAT

Corporations pay road taxes and gasoline excise taxes to cover the entire cost of all the infrastructure they use. Roads and bridges do not justify a single cent in income taxes.

Government derives its money from taxation. Taxation comes from levies on people's earnings or economic activity. Without economic activity there would be no earnings, thus no taxation.
Businesses can and do build their own infrastructure: roads, railroad spurs etc. Government is not generously handing this stuff out because they are just such swell guys. They do it to increase revenue to themselves through expanded economic activity. T he Erie Canal was a good example of that. As were railroads and national highways.

The issue is too many people have never done anything but punch a clock and collect a paycheck.

Well, in between they apply their services to get their paycheck.

However, applying their services is why they get a paycheck. For some reason, our current administration believes that applying their services should be reason to get more than a paycheck.

But that's another thread for another day.

Yeah....seems Obama has forgotten about gasoline tax and freight surcharges....

For some reason, so has his strongest supporters.

Explain to me how a middle class worker benefits from a transportation infrastructure as much as a corporate mogul does?

It sure does, including his mocking of business owners: IÂ’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.

There's no law requiring you to like private business owners, Mr President, but we would appreciate it if you would at least stop mocking us.

Thanks.

Lol,

Let me see...Your business relies on police, roads, and a stable economy.

WTF do you mean?

Whenever a business wants to expand the government has a list of requirements that the business must agree to in order to build. The majority of them have to do with BUILDING UP THE INFRASTRUCTURE in the area around where the business is going to be sited.

So no, junior. The government didn't build the roads, the businesses USING THEM BUILT THEM. The government gets them for free, and then the government further gets tax monies to maintain them which they almost always never do and instead divert to the general fund where they can more easily skim money off the top.
