Look asshole I was a firefighter. My youngest son is a firefighter, so don't talk to me about caressing my CCW. When was the last time You ran INTO a burning building?
I advocate firing teachers that are incompetent idiots, but you and the NEA would rather the worst of the crop be put in non teaching positions.
I don't want other teachers, cops or firefighters fired, but realize that it may at times become necessary for local government to make budget cuts. I've always favored laying off lawyers before teachers, but I don't always get my way.

There’s some truth to this.

Attacked as being ‘incompetent’ by conservatives, now all of a sudden teachers are competent enough to be armed around students.

There are some excellent teachers out there that have the training and mentality to be effective armed guards. There are also teachers who suggest that a student who wears a Romney Tee-shirt is a KKK member. This is NOT the person I want to turn loose in the halls with a Glock.

These teachers are not being forced into the front lines. They are already there.
We have a choice the next time a madman comes into a school to kill kids.
Teachers can either add to, or subtract from, the death toll.
They are going to be there. They might just save a life or 2 if they are equipped to deal with a situation.
