The mass firings for hate speech

Yes it has been crossed, but we should follow Kirk's example and confront them without becoming them.

Call them out, expose things like death threats or callous praising of Kirk's death, but don't cross the lines they have crossed.

No, I'm saying don't reply with any death threats.

And limit demands on other's speech to "no death threats, please" and "no celebrating someone's death for political reasons, please"
 
The amendment does not apply to private business
Nor employment agreements by public businesses and organizations.
A good deal of these firings have been public institutions.
An employer has the right to protect themselves from radical employees.

The freedom of speech enshrined in the Constitution doesn't apply to anyone but the government. It says the government can't violate your freedom of speech. It doesn't say that websites, or any other privately own businesses, are obligated to accommodate you.

That said, it's fine to criticize websites that claim to support free speech for their restrictive policies. But in the end, it's up to them.

Why is it Liberals do not understand the idea of "freedom of speech".

True but today, government and business are often the same thing.

Then we should do something about that. But we shouldn't use it as an excuse for bad policy.
