So we're back to "fuck em...they're old and were gonna die anyway"? huh...

They're dying anyway. In most states, the PREDOMINANT number of Covid deaths have all been in nursing homes. Or did you miss that too.

So now the only question left is why are we ruining EVERYONE'S life, business, jobs, savings and national economy that might take YEARS to recover to save a tiny fraction of society, that we've done a shitty job at anyway? What if another virus hits us NEXT year? And the year after that? There is overwhelming evidence that these masks do between VERY LITTLE to PRACTICALLY NOTHING To prevent the spread of a virus.

Here's what a doctor-friend of mine had to say about nursing homes:

There are relatively poorly run SNFs out there, of course, but infectious diseases are something they understand to be bad business and they really do work to reduce that.
But at least around here our SNFs are filled with elderly and ill individuals. If they were not at high risk for overwhelming infection they wouldn't be in the SNF.

Then it is compounded because there is typically quite a bit of traffic in and out. You have to bring in supplies - everything from clothing to toiletries to food to medications. The medication issue can be a relatively big issue because you have to sort of centralize them in order to meet regulations but then you have to be bringing the cart from room to room when you are doing your med pass. You also have administrators, nurses, CNAs, maintenance folk, and visitors (if allowed) all traipsing through the halls and into various rooms.

If you are dealing with a pretty darned virulent bug which doesn't really require a huge inoculation in order to initiate and infection? A SNF is peculiarly set up to have devastating mini-epidemics.

And then you have to realize that some of these SNFs are running on pretty slim margins. If they don't keep their beds full they are going out of business so. . . The idea of maybe reducing the number of patients for better social distancing is problematic because the facility goes bankrupt. Plus, it doesn't help that they literally have no other safe place to go - kicking out 1/2 of all the patients would simply leave them on the streets.

I don't think they can actually fix the SNFs to eliminate this kind of problem. All you need is one or two workers come in when they shouldn't and they are toast. We have one local SNF which had something like 20+ deaths - and at least in the past (I'd not visited in several years) they were pretty well-run.

But since you are dumb, fat, lazy, obtuse and stupid, I'll paste something I saved posted here a couple weeks back from an OSHA engineer who actually tests and rates masks and what he had to say, then you can dismiss it as fake news:

I am OSHA 10&30 certified. I know some of you are too. I don’t really know WHY OSHA hasn’t come forward and stopped the nonsense BUT

• surgical masks

Okay so upon further inspection OSHA says some masks are okay and not okay in certain situations.
If you’re working with fumes and aerosol chemicals and you give your employees the wrong masks and they get sick you can be sued.
• N95 masks: are designed for CONTAMINATED environments. That means when you exhale through N95 the design is that you are exhaling into contamination. The exhale from N95 masks are vented to breath straight out without filtration. They don’t filter the air on the way out. They don’t need to.

• Surgical Mask: these masks were designed and approved for STERILE environments. The amount of particles and contaminants in the outside and indoor environments where people are CLOGGING these masks very Very quickly. The moisture from your breath combined with the clogged mask will render it “useless” IF you come in contact with Covid and your mask traps it You become a walking virus dispenser. Everytime you put your mask on you are breathing the germs from EVERYWHERE you went. They should be changed or thrown out every “20-30 minutes in a non sterile environment”
Cloth masks: today three people pointed to their masks as they walked by me entering Lowe’s. They said “ya gotta wear your mask BRO” I said very clearly “those masks don’t work bro, in fact they MAKE you sicker” they “pshh’d” me.
By now hopefully you all know CLOTH masks do not filter anything. You mean the American flag one my aunt made? Yes. The one with sunflowers that looks so cute? Yes. Ultimate Answer: N95 blows the virus into the air from a contaminated person.
