The French commanders says angrily, "Send in a platoon!" The platoon meets the same fate, but the screams take longer to stop. The American steps up to the hill top and lights a cigarette.

The commander orders a full company to attack. The French point man sticks his head over the ridge and immediately runs back down the hill. The Company advances over the top and screams begin again.

The French Commander grabs the retreating man and demands an explanation. "Monsieur Commandant, it is a treeck!" he says. "Zere are two of them!"

Just to clarify: this is a completely normal NATO mission to have competent NATO soldiers on the ground assess NATO's defense capabilities in Greenland and the surrounding seas. It only has to do with Trump's antics insofar as Donald Trump believes that only the US alone can defend this part of the world. However, where Trump's logic that the US alone is stronger than the US and Europe together comes from is beyond my knowledge of everything I know about thinking and philosophy.
