The Left protests Trump's second term

This is a huge issue for you?

Have fun for the next four years, it's gonna get real hot 🔥.

I wouldn't put it past the left that they forecast the weather to be "the worst" hoping to affect the inauguration the way they have. (move it indoors)

:dunno:

For some reason they think silly things like this are a win for their side.

20F Monday afternoon with 15-20 mph winds sustained gusting to 30 causing +5 wind chills all afternoon which is bitter cold

It is a far smaller turnout than 2016. I guess they've realized they can't do anything about Trump's election.
I suspect after the disastrous four years of Biden--tens of millions of migrants illegally invading the country, exacerbated inflation, a disastrous bungled evacuation of Kabul, the nation again embroiled in multiple wars, family buying power reduced by thousands, and not one thing to show that matters to the average American for trillions and trillions spent over budget, etc. . .

. . .after all that, I'm guessing there's a lot fewer people who even want to protest Trump's election.

The way I see it and the way almost all constitutional scholars see it, there was no controversy re electors in 2020 nor any choice between slates of electors. Numerous Republican congressional members voted to delay the 2020 results until the audits could be completed, but they were in a distinct minority. Technically perhaps Congress could have voted for a delay but since they did not, Pence had no constitutional authority to delay signing off on that election.

"Objecting to the Counting of One or More Electoral Votes Provisions in 3 U.S.C. §15 include a procedure for making and acting on objections to the counting of one or more of the electoral votes from a state or the District of Columbia. When the certificate or equivalent paper from each state (or the District of Columbia) is read, “the President of the Senate shall call for objections, if any.” Any such objection must be presented in writing and must be signed by at least one Senator and one Representative. The objection “shall state clearly and concisely, and without argument, the ground thereof.... ” During the joint session of January 6, 2001, the presiding officer intervened on several occasions to halt attempts to make speeches under the guise of offering an objection. When an objection, properly made in writing and endorsed by at least one Senator and one Representative, is received, each house is to meet and consider it separately. The statute states that “[n]o votes or papers from any other State shall be acted upon until the objections previously made to the votes or papers from any State shall have been finally disposed of.” However, in 1873, before enactment of the law now in force, the joint session agreed, without objection and for reasons of convenience, to entertain objections with regard to two or more states before the houses met separately on any of them. They did that and the vote was taken. Pence had no constitutional choice but to bow to the certified will of the people, however questionable, and the will of the U.S. Congress that was on the record.

I don't believe any U.S. Congress has failed to certify an election on the prescribed date. Had Pence refused to do so, it would have stood the Constitution on its head and we would likely never again see an election certified on the prescribed date as there would ALWAYS be somebody who would prevent that.

INCORRECT - Alternate EC electors were NOT considered

Pelosi and Mitch McConnell planned the insurrection so they could change the proceeding to a night session andthereafter blaming President Trump for the "insurrection".

Thousands of protesters greeted President-elect Donald Trump when he arrived in Washington DC ahead of Sunday’s indoor inauguration.
Dangerously cold temperatures have forced the ceremony inside for the first time since Ronald Reagan in 1985.
But the snow hasn’t kept Trump’s critics off the streets carrying banners

What would be great would be if they had fire fighting planes fly overhead and dump a ton of water on them all soaking them down to the skin with ice cold water!

The problem is that with 10 degree temperatures by the time the water his the ground it will be a huge block of ice, But I like the suggestion. LOL

And hope their aim was right so they don't hit the crowds waiting for the Trump rally!

The so-called 'insurrection' I also suspect was deliberate and planned and Trump and Patriots had no part in that. I doubt my faith in that opinion will ever be shaken because I believe those who instigated it are that dishonorable/evil.

But that does not override the Constitutional requirement that the election be certified on Jan 6. Again had Pence refused to do that, we would likely never again see an election certified on Jan 6 because there would be dishonorable people who would intervene to prevent that.

That is why SCOTUS stopped Gore's demand of a recount in a few Florida counties in 2000. If Florida had not met its constitutional deadline for certification of votes, it would have set a dangerous precedent in which we likely wouldn't see certification of votes on time in numerous states ever again.

We already have to wait a unacceptably long time after election day to know who won elections. To violate constitutional limits would likely seriously exacerbate that problem.

I'm willing to take that chance and hope that most of the water would be soaked up by the people's hair and clothing.
Of course, after they all leave to run to dry themselves, they could just throw down some blue pellet ice melter to keep things clear.

Well, that is indeed a possibility - I guess in 1887 the Nation could not conceive the fact that some day Socialist Demon Rats and RINO would act as ruffians , low life ANti-AMerican thugs

Was there cause/honorable reason to delay the certification? Yes.
Did the risk of how the dishonorable left would have used that precedent justify not delaying the certification? A huge yes.

Far better to tighten election laws to restore confidence in the process so the controversy of the 2000 election cannot ever happen again at least on so large a scale.

Of note, pretty much all states Kamala won have no voter ID law, All but two states Trump won have voter ID laws.

All states should have voter ID laws and other safeguards so we can be reasonably confident that only citizens vote and that our vote counts as we cast it.

Do that and the problem of 2020 will likely never occur again.

Thousands of protesters greeted President-elect Donald Trump when he arrived in Washington DC ahead of Sunday’s indoor inauguration.

It’s quieter than the days before Joe Biden’s 2020 inauguration, when the January 6 riot saw Trump supporters storm the Capitol building in a bid to overturn the results.

Dangerously cold temperatures have forced the ceremony inside for the first time since Ronald Reagan in 1985.

But the snow hasn’t kept Trump’s critics off the streets carrying banners saying ‘We will not be silent’, ‘We rise, we resist, we march’, and ‘We make our future’.

Comment:
The Radical Left will be cranking up their hate to 11 for the next four year.
First comes their hate and then comes their violence.
The left had protests and violent riots during Trumps first term.
They will be doing it again.

Any ol' excuse will do.

I wonder how many of them beat the shit out of Capitol cops and ransacked the Capitol building, causing scores of injuries and making hundreds of people shelter in place, violently trying to stop the peaceful and constitutional transfer of presidential power?

None. Because unlike the 2020 election, nobody committed fraud.
