I work for AT&T. I don't think they will be a company for much longer though. Dave Dorman has run the company into the ground.

Well damn!
He went from WorldCom to Sycamore, so he's been all through the business. He so wants to get back into it. Hopefully he will, it's what he loves!

What do you do?

I am a Switch Engineer. I work in the switches to program people's services so that they get what they pay for.

Sounds like fun :D

So you're the one I should be complaining too? Just teasing :tng:

He was a Fiber optic, shoot, something. He worked in the Chicago pop making sure people didn't lose their service, lol. He also worked on the route putting the cables back together. What a rush he'd have after 3 days, wide awake, pouring ran, after a cable cut, putting cables back together.

How long have you had the current CEO, No1?

I think it has been about 4 years. In that 4 years AT&T sold their Cable Company, then decided to get into VOIP. Idiocy. They stopped doing wireless broadband technologies in cities where they had no infrastructure. They have now decided to stop Type II services. They have laid off more than half of their employees. We are a shell of the company that we once were.

I know....

The thing is AT&T dominated the market for years and I don't think they
(CEO and BODs) have ever really let go of that monopoly mentality. They seem to have just stood by while others took the market share. Delta Airlines did the same thing.
Giants do fall, unless they adapt...IMO these are two that forever the reason haven't.

Bottom line is they waited too long...Their both toast.

With C. Michael Armstrong the company was taking strides. They bought TCI, had the final mile into houses across the nation, they had a broadband capable company and wireless broadband to put VOIP into action. They built a huge network across the nation, and had access into nearly every major city in the US. When he left the mentality changed, it seemed the only goal was to make the company look sexy to people who wanted to purchase it. It began by separating out the parts into 4 companies, and went downhill from there.

We were poised to make the strongest company, and it was taken apart in less than a year. Too bad....

Oh well, the resume is out there and I will find some other place to work soonly. :D

Mornin, Pumpkin!!

Remember...you can win anything you set your mind to.. You're a winner just for trying. :thewave:

(back to your regularly scheduled banter - I obviously need more coffee - cutting down to one cup a day is a bad thing)

Good morning all...and Happy New Year! I hope we all have a great year....though I started mine this morning by slipping on the ice and going butt over teakettle. Broke my coffee thermos and now am in one heck of a mood....*searches for a new source of coffee*

I found out it's absolutely *essential* to have no less than 4 travel mugs with tight fitting lids at all times. Hurry to the local gas station and buy another. :D
