He wanted to see time fly? LMAO!! You nut! :tng:

It'll fly for me until around 10:30, and then it'll creep! I have to call in at noon to see if I have to work tonight. I hate waiting!!!

For me it creeps in the mornings then speeds up as afternoon approaches.

I'm an impatient person. It depends on what I have to do, then the time just plays tricks on me, LOL!

Time is pretty constant for me these days, but when I used to work 12 hours shifts
that last hour before a relief pilot came in, used to seem like a year!

I can relate (not to the relief pilot, but to the hour seeming like a year :tng: ).
This is why I like to keep busy at work, it helps make the time fly. I look around at these other waitresses complaining that the time is dragging, but they're just standing there. I'm bouncing around doing stuff, and if I have nothing left to do, I start helping other waitresses clear their tables or something. Anything to keep the time moving!

Our average time from takeoff to landing back at the home base was 3 hours,
so the drag for me was a possible call in that last hour. It would mean a 15 hour day. It did happen and I hated it.

Good gracious, how exhausting!! So, up until you actually left, there was always a chance to work an extra 3 hours. My nerves would have been shot! LOL!!

Exactly...that's why that last hour seemed to last a year. And we worked 6 days in a row. So by the end of the fourth day, you REALLY didn't want to face another 3 or more hours.

Sounds like the Fire Department. I used to volunteer at a place that we would work shifts. If the person that was supposed to show didn't it could take hours to find somebody to take his place, it isn't like we were paid for it or something. The shifts were supposed to be 4 hours, they wanted qualified people to be able to show up if there was a medical call within minutes and to be able to assess a fire scene before the bulk of the fighters got there.

It was one of the few Volunteer places that would actually fire their volunteers. If you didn't show for the shifts you signed up for you were outta there. It really sucked when you were stuck for two shifts because some lazy ass didn't show up!

At my job, the owner makes the schedule and then puts down two extra people for "call 1" and "call 2". The people down for call have to call work at 3pm to see if anyone else called in sick. If they did, then the people on call have to work. I thought that was pretty smart because the owner doesn't have to track down anyone to work if people start calling in.
Although I HATE being on call!

We still had guys with their pagers. If there was a call they too are expected to show up, not to every single call but to a good portion of them. When I was not on shift I had a pager.

It just annoyed me that they would sign up for it then not show up for what they volunteered to do.

That would be annoying. If you're going to commit to something, then do it!

What in the world is DONSA?

It was just another day here. How was yours?

Day of No Schedule Activity - It's a Day off for the 'green-suiters'

:)

Mine was fine; went up to visit the snow at a semi-local mountain pass. Came back after an hour or so.

(shrug).

:)
