it creates a toxic cocktail in the water table :clap2: It also creates, through the release of methane, more GHG's than the oil its supposed to replace  Brought to you from the hot bed of liberalism- North Carolina

Update: Well water contamination near fracking operations | Duke Dean's Blog: The Green Grok
In last year’s paper the Duke scientists reported that the data they had collected from 68 drinking water wells in Pennsylvania and New York indicated that drinking water in the vicinity of fracking operations was more likely to have higher concentrations of methane gas — and a specific form of the gas that looked like the same gas being extracted via fracking from the Marcellus Shale about a mile or more beneath the surface. Among the data they had to tie the well water to the shale gas was isotopic information: the methane in the wells had an isotopic signature similar to that of nearby shale gas wells.

Why don't you just excuse yourself from using fossil fuels altogether, and go live in a tent? You'll be much happier.

Why don’t you and others on the right predicate your energy policy on facts as opposed to demagoguery and hyperbole.

Let's not let facts get in the way of cheap energy, shall we?

^ that :)

I thought you were for the poor? $4 gas is hard enough as it is. Not to even get into the gas of energy and choosing between medicine and power. :(

Being in favor of policies that facilitate equal opportunity by income bracket rather than by race or sex isn't the same thing as being crazy enough to encourage a Dimrock situation here.

The closest driller is about a mile away. Already caught a truck pumping water without a permit from a stream exiting my property. To keep a short story short: they have not been back.

you know 98% of these companies/sub-contractors are run by conservatives who hate EPA/OSHA so they'll dump that toxic drilling sludge wherever they can if they can get away w/ it.

Methane is a naturally occurring element, and is always present in well water. It is so prevalent that it is actually possible to light well water on fire even if no fracking is being conducted within 5000 miles. It is also perfectly safe to drink.

The real facts, it is safe, and actually reduces greenhouse gasses. Anyone that truly cares about the environment should get behind fracking 100%.
