But merely having it as one of the campaign promises that Obama lied about does not make it "from liberals." That is total bullshit. But I do understand why you would want all gays to feel like they have to buy in to socialism to reward democrats for switching sides when the greater majority of the public turned on the topic.

It is creating a country of people who are dependent on taxes pulled from their grand children. It's vile and disgusting. People (our entire country) would be exponentially better off with a 401k like system than we get from SS.

Would I keep SS if I had the option of erasing it from history? No. I would place more emphasis on 401k like programs for saving for retirement with your own means.

I might keep medicaid. But I would also drop medicare for HSAs.

If someone is too old to work, it doesn't strike me as unreasonable they'd be dependent on someone or something. That's the point of social security, to take care of the people who've paved the way for us. Of course, what the Baby Boomers have done is less "paved the way" and more "pulled the ladder up behind them" but whatever. My point being, social security didn't create dependence in old people, time did that. And if we can transition to a better system, I'm for that, but it hardly erases the good it's done for people in their golden years over the decades.
