Misleading young people into worshiping a deity that demands blind devotion...or else... is a worse idea.
Hell doesn't exist because God doesn't exist as anything more than some Bronze Age goat-herding tribe's mythology. It's just as factual as Egyptian mythology, Norse mythology, or Star Wars.
If hell doesn't exist what would you call the impenetrably confused state of mind of people who are misled into a blind devotion to the worship of a deity that does not exist?
If the goat herders mythology and their figurative depictions of hell as a place devoid of peace, truth, understanding, and consequent suffering caused by confusion, a place of conscious existence that some people are actually in, what would you call the state of mind where people believe in things that never actually happened which perverts their perceptions about what is actually taking place while awaiting a future that will never come while trying to function in a harsh reality that is a torment to believers like that of a consuming fire that will never go out?
You mean like to be a citizen of a communist or socialist society?
I suppose it could apply but no, I was being a little vague but since you asked I was specifically referring to religious beliefs since hell itself is a religious belief.
Its like those who profess to believe that the earth is 6000 years old but the evidence provided by actual reality contradicts that belief or those who profess to believe that Jesus was a god that became a man that hates gays and loves republicans and will float down from the sky one day, any minute, to destroy unbelievers even though actual reality contradicts those beliefs.
To all those who maintain irrational religious beliefs reality itself is like a consuming fire that will never go out.
