This is an interesting conversation between an atheist and a Christian, both of which recognize how the radicalization of the Left is at war with free speech, as they discuss the deleterious effects upon society for their war against freedom of speech

Both men understand that without free speech, coming to truth is dauntingly difficult, if not impossible. Unfortunately, the United States is the only country on earth that defends free speech in its Constitution. But even at that, freedom of speech is waning, and all thanks to the Left.

This movie, "No Safe Spaces" is a good example of how the Left is training up future leaders in the US, all of whom have been indoctrinated to shout down what they deem to be offensive speech, the same people that danced in the streets like animals as they celebrated Charlie Kirk being killed for trying to engage freedom of speech with college students.

Even though the United States has freedom of speech, the Left has found ways to bypass this freedom of speech, and it is mostly due to their control of social media.

Most of us remember what it was like during Covid. People who dared question taking the vaccine, were publicly shamed and taken off social media. Imagine, if you will, having a loved one take a vaccine they were ordered to take, or they lose their job or their access to higher education, to then have a bad reaction to the vaccine, or even die from it. Not only do they have no legal recourse for taking the vaccine, but you also then try to warn others and try to seek some sort of compassion by sharing your tragedy, only to be cancelled from society, including your friends and family.

What also troubled me when Joe Biden ran against Trump for the Presidency is, the government made sure those in social media censored certain stories, like the scandal revolving the laptop of Hunter Biden. Much of this pressure to censor social media was discovered after Elon Musk took over Twitter, otherwise the story would never have seen the light of day.. Those in government insisted that the Hunter Biden laptop story was all Russian disinformation, something later proved to be false. But the damage had been done, as many of those who voted for Biden who later discovered the scandal story of Hunter Biden, said they would not have voted for Biden had they known. In fact, it was around 20% of the voters said that they would not have voted for Biden had it not been for the democrat censorship of the media.

But perhaps more troubling, is that President Trump, while still President, was taken off social media by Twitter. Think of it, the President of the United States lost his ability to talk to the people who voted for him as he was seeking their votes again. At that point, any communication regarding Trump to the public got censored by Legacy media, as they only told you things about Trump that they wanted you to know, as well as Joe Biden.

Sadly, I predict more of this when democrats take power again, only, their oppression will be bolder and more radical.

They never counted on Elon freeing up free speech, and likely had he not, Trump would never have been elected for a second term.

Do you know why? It is because that Trump is exercising his freedom of speech by saying how he perceives the world. For example, he probably felt that a judge putting a gag order on him while he was trying to campaign to win the Presidency once again was, or should be, illegal. He is free to say as much, and I encourage him to do so. But the Left would say that Mr. Hitler is threatening them. Whatever.

Not one of your examples shows Trump taking free speech away. In fact, I remember when Kimmel was taken off the air as the Left cried Hitler done it!! The man was not off the air more than a week and he was right back to lambasting Trump as his only reason for existing. Yea, no one stopped him from anything.

Conversely, the examples that I gave of the Left restricting free speech was them actually doing so in real time, something you don't seem to give a damn about.

Freedom of speech in the American context means nothing more or less than, you cannot be punished for criticizing the government, what it does, or government officials. That's it.

"Freedom of speech" ((the First Amendment) does not protect pornography, "art" that the majority finds offensive, subversive books, or insulting expressions. All of these have been "banned" in one way or another in this country at various times, and NOBODY had any concerns that the First Amendment was in danger.

Lenny Bruce was repeatedly thrown in jail by several local government officials for using the expression, "cock-sucker," in his comedy act. He didn't even dream that he had a get-out-of-jail card in the form of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The bizarre belief that pornography was protected by the First Amendment was not even conceived until the Constitution was more than 150 years old.

It is also noteworthy that, for example, President Grover Cleveland vetoed the Texas Seen Bill in 1887, because Congress lacked the Constitutional power to spend taxpayers' money to help any individual.

Neither Article I nor the First Amendment has been modified in the interim, and yet we all know that the Constitution means something far different now than it did then, don't we?
