I have never used the ignore button before....but I am going to start putting all the democrats on ignore....so how does one do that?

True...I admit it is a lot of fun skewering them and so forth....but for me...I have come to view it as a waste of time.

alrighty then - i didn't know that an alert is part of the deal. i've been told by more than one poster that they were gonna put me on iggy, but alas they are little liars. i'm a little disappointed in knowing they haven't.

There is no alert. You have no idea if they have you on ignore or not.

But, I have little doubt at least one person has you on ignore.

I once got an invite to a "private" forum which was a training ground for aspiring progressive politicians.. My role was as a punching bag and coach for them to get them to deliver CLEAR messages... So -- for about 18 months, I had my own private stash of pedigreed progressive socialists.. LOL... GREAT experience.. Some now famous people involved..

But there are (estimate) about 4 or 5 active members here on USMB that can carry discussions on the socialist agenda.. And they do a pretty good job of it...

There's also a very small fraction of Green party advocates that can bring on some good discussions...

Not so much from what's LEFT of the Dem party since they've retreated to the leftmost dark corner of the political spectrum and given the inept Repubs an 80 yard start on a touchdown...

They're TOO NEW to the arguments to even understand the agendas....

Especially their "Bernie clone" candidates...

About half of mine on Ignore know because I tell them, with bells and whistles. The rest are afflicted and I just do it quietly so I don't have to bother with them. It really works --- life is so much better with the Ignore function.

I tend to discuss world politics more than some other subjects, so I must not have run into the ones you mentioned.

As far as honesty is concerned, I find it inversely proportional to partisanship. The moderates, centrists and independents are the most honest for the most parts, while the card carrying warriors for a party are increasingly dishonest as they move farther away from center. I also see those with more libertarian views as being more honest than those with authoritarian views, and this, too, goes hand in hand as you move farther away from center. The combination of extreme left (or right) with an equally extreme degree of authoritarianism guarantees dishonesty.

No. That's why you have loudly announce, at regular intervals that you have So-and-So on ignore. Just to make sure they know it. They might forget after all.

I think Ignore gives folks a break from those who truly annoy them and allows them to continue to participate as they like- and the forum software does a really good job with Ignore, it's a valuable feature.

I don't have anyone on ignore anymore, mainly because I spend less time on the controversial issues that attract the annoying trolls ( I won't mention any names, but, for example, the 9/11 truth-deniers know who they are) who deserve to be ignored. So I decided to conserve my energy and contribute in other directions for now.....too much truth becomes a magnet for trolls.
