Mandela and his cohorts proudly confessed their plotting sabotage. This case is due to apartheid laws in a different country.

For the OJ simpson trial, its a case of a bad investigator, Mark Furhman, along with a good (and lucky) defense team. For all juries in criminal cases, the evidence must exceed beyond a reasonable doubt. Also, this trial was in the context of the Rodney King beatings & riots, which was a major factor.
