Zone1 The Great Feminization-by Helen Andrews

That's down the road for the next appropriation, the full appropriation, not a continuing resolution.

The Dems can make it their campaign slogan for 2026.

then it will be too late. millions will have to give up their healthcare ins. because they can't afford it.

seems y'all want to go back to the (R) healthcare plan.

Obamacare was supposed to manage costs, not require massive subsidies to just function.

The COVID subsidies are ending, they were an emergency measure for an emergency that has passed.

Maybe people need to realize how screwed up ACA is, and that's what the Dems are really afraid of.

And here is another right wing ***** pretending that only Repubicans are men.

Personally, I like women. That's what real men do.
So far the only argument I have seen on this thread has been declaiming sex harassment suits and women being able to work in different fields now.

They are angry because women don't want to sit around the house anymore.

You see being a stay at home mom and being a home-maker as "sitting around the house"?

that was the only way to get the for profit healthcorps to get on board. the subsidies were to help pay for those who needed the help for coverage PLUS the ' high risk corridors ' where the sickest of the sick could get care- when the corps would deny them because of their illness'. i wish 'bammy fought harder for a public option, but the corps bristled at that, knowing it would have put a dent in their profits. so much for that free market capitalism, 'eh?

you can also blame marco rubio for putting a poisin pill in the omnibus re: the ACA - & made it so it would get more & more expensive as time went on.

Real men do not fear or complain about feminism. America has not become feminized because women are standing up for equal rights.

The subsidies in question were due to COVID, not an inherent part of Obamacare. You can try to re-write history, but it won't work on me.

Polls with questions like this are meaningless.

Current wave feminism went past equal rights decades ago.

Not I said the Spy, if its voluntary and the family can afford it. Given today's economics, thats uncommon.

I was responding to IM2, and with many jobs allowing work from home it's more and more feasible.

Now we're having a discussion. :)
What do you consider "current wave" feminism, and clarify what you feel went past equal rights. This is a question, not a setup.

Equal rights under the law was established by allowing the franchise to women. Petty discrimination was ended with various laws between then and say the 70's/80's.

The problem is while men and women can be made equal legally, they can't be made the same entirely.

The trans nuttery is part of current wave feminism, except of course for the TERFS. Equating abortion rights with feminism also is an example of going too far. If you want to see an example of too far as well, look at the old "Life of Julia" campaign add the dems put out before.

Feminism went off the rails when it went from women being what they want to be to a small group of women defining what they all should be.

Why after all the work on legal equality are the numbers of women not happy with their lives on the increase?

None of the below are criticisms. Again we are discussing a topic and I want to hear your views on this.

Thats interesting. why do you think thats part of Feminism?

Equating abortion rights with feminism also is an example of going too far.
I would submit Feminists feel abortion is a right for women to be free of men controlling their bodies. Mom who was more conservative than Attila the Hun had that view. Why do you feel that goes too far?

If you want to see an example of too far as well, look at the old "Life of Julia" campaign add the dems put out before.
I will have to do so. Truly not familiar with that one.

Feminism went off the rails when it went from women being what they want to be to a small group of women defining what they all should be.
OK, yes, I have heard this complaint in the past from other feminists actually.

Why after all the work on legal equality are the numbers of women not happy with their lives on the increase?
I'd argue the numbers are declining for both women and men on that front.

EDIT:
Is this what you are referring to? From AI:
"The Life of Julia" was a 2012 Obama campaign advertisement that followed the life of a fictional woman to illustrate how government policies and programs from his first term improved her life from childhood to old age. The slideshow, which was widely criticized by conservatives as representing a "cradle-to-grave" government dependency, showed Julia benefiting from programs like Head Start, Pell Grants, the Affordable Care Act, and Social Security. The ad was controversial and drew criticism from political opponents and fact-checkers alike.

Key aspects of the campaign
  • Narrative: The interactive slideshow followed a cartoon character named Julia from age three to 67.
  • Key policy highlights: The ad showed Julia's life being enhanced by specific government initiatives, such as:
    • Early childhood: Enrolling in Head Start.
    • College: Receiving a Pell Grant to help pay for college.
    • Career: Having health insurance through her employer that covered birth control, allowing her to focus on her work as a web designer.
    • Business: Getting an Small Business Administration loan to start her own business.
    • Retirement: Receiving Medicare at 65 and Social Security at 67.
    • Political contrast: The ad was designed to contrast the benefits of Obama's policies with what would have happened under his opponent, Mitt Romney.
    • Reception: The campaign was met with immediate criticism and mockery, with opponents describing it as a representation of government dependence. Critics also argued that some of the campaign's claims were misleading or based on false assumptions, notes the Center for Public Integrity.
