Even if Trump puts sanctions on Russian oil, or even confiscates Russia's $300b the west has of Russian cash reserves, that is no guarantee that would force Putin to end the war without his "root causes" for the war being addressed.
Russia wants to keep Ukraine in its "sphere of influence".
