The first season of "The Expanse" is much more engaging than I remember

I watched the first two seasons of "The Expanse" when it was on the so called "Syfy" channel and then I quickly lost interest after that but rewatching it on Amazon it is much more exciting and engaging than I remember.

Since it was not on Syfy anymore there were no commercials to get in the way. Did that play a part? Did streaming services spoil us?

I just got into the books and they greatly reminded me of "Mass Effect", another space saga I loved. Perhaps that played a part.
