If you graduate from a Univ, your degree should allow you to make enough money to pay off your loan in ten years. If you can't, the school should be responsible for it. Maybe by putting some of the financial responsibility on the schools, we might increase the quality-value of education.

Student loans need to be paid back, but they told young adults they had a reprieve over Covid and are now destroying their credit ratings for not paying. Gen Z hates America at this point and I don't blame them.

Many ignored the suggestion to make payments on the interest on their loans and got hit hard when it was added in to the total owed at the end of the reprieve.
