Republican Texas Senator John Cornyn has come out and said he will vote to end the Senate filibuster, so he has decided to put personal ambition and Party over the nation's interests. The Senate filibuster is a Senate rule that says you need to have sixty Senators vote to end debate on a bill and send it to a vote on whether or not is passes it is a mechanism that practically means that there needs to be bipartisan support amongst Senators for a bill to pass! It stops wide swings in the law in America it keeps stability in the law for America; a major cause for America's strength. Further, it stops a political party who won majorities in the House and Senate in a recent election from going to Washington and just jamming their whole agenda into law where probably the majority of the American people don't support their entire agenda and this law change will result in great harm to America!

Most knowledgeable people about politics know Senator Cornyn did it to get President Trump's endorsement in the Texas Republican Senate Primary runoff election; President Trump wants to do away with the Senate filibuster rule so he can get his agenda through Congress! President Trump believes that the political winds in the Democrat Party means next time the Democrats control the House, Senate and White House they will do away with the filibuster rule; the political assessment has some merit but it is not inevitable and when it does happen it cause a cascading effect in changes in the law putting the progressive agenda into law which almost certainly trigger a movement in Red States to collectively secede from America and create their own country and it will likely secede - former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley when she last ran for President was very evasive when questioned about states seceding because Republican states didn't sign on back in the 1700's when the country was formed to be part of a socialistic country and they won't tolerate this agenda! President Trump is wrong like so so many things that it is a foregone conclusion that when Democrats regain control they will end the filibuster. Democrats if the bill is written correctly and good politics is applied to the legislative advocacy for the bill can get a law passed that allows across America abortion to protect the life of the mother and that has real teeth in it; also, with the reconciliation tool Democrats could do an awful lot on the economic front they don't need to do away with the filibuster!

If this years elections play out as suspected Democrats getting control of the House and the Republicans holding the Senate President Trump will probably have Senator John Thune replaced as Republican Senate leader with a Senator who is a filibuster rule killer! And considering that Trump, the Maga Republicans and the Democrats agree on price regulation in the pharmaceutical industry such a bill could be used to break the filibuster rule and become law. When that happens the filibuster rule will be killed forever; and, likely the Democrats will take full control of Washington in 2028 because Republicans don't care enough about the middle class and since the filibuster rule is dead they will implement their entire progressive agenda: Medicare-for-all, Roe v. At a minimum they should enforce the actual talking filibuster, not just deny a cloture vote because someone threatens to maybe stand up and debate.

I highly doubt even the Republicans could end the filibuster. Every Dem would vote to keep it, and more than a few Republicans would join them. You think Thune or Graham would end it? I don't think so
