Assimilation doesnt happen if you mass import foreign cultures. If you bring in a somali family and send them to some town in Iowa, in one generation they will be completely American, but if you bring 100,000 in and put them all in one spot, they will NEVER assimilate. That isnt a "melting pot". Thats a pot with a single ingredient in it. It will just continue to be exactly what it was before you put it in the pot.
