The Donald overrules the FAA...Grounds the Boeing 737

some humans
As a 50+ years aviation (pilot) experience I am somewhat more suspicious of the training of certain foreign pilots than of Boeing's hardware. Instructions originally in American English do not always translate well into other languages and pose certain difficulties for instructors training those whose primary language is other than American English. Been there; done that.

Note, I said "hardware". Some of today's automated flights systems bring to mind HAL in "Clockwork Orange".

Interesting Henri --- 50 years in aviation and another 50 in radio? How old are you exactly?

Can we get a sneak preview of what other professions you're going to claim in future?
some humans are capable of doing more than 1 thing at a time

I know for a fact that you can't work in a radio station (Henri's previous claim) if you're flying a jumbo jet, so ..... no.
I dont see where he claimed that

That's because you just got here.

I'm a radio guy, and in the past Henri has claimed to be one too. Now he's claiming to have been a pilot.

he never said he was a pilot of a jumbo jet

HAL is in 2001 A Space Odyssey, but I agree. HAL is pretty damned scary AI.

The articles I've read, though, the software makes the plane think it's stalling. There are ways to respond. Not everyone has had the training.
How can the computer think the plane is stalling if the air speed indicators are above stall speed? Unless they don't work.....

Boeing knew they had a problem and were already working on a software fix BEFORE the 2nd plane went down.
Boeing said the government shutdown slowed them down training pilots how to respond.
The pilots work for Boeing not the government.
Actually, the pilots work for the various airlines. Boeing offers specialized training to the pilots.

The memory is the second thing to go.

Yanno what, this is none of your concern. Be off with ye now.

we got a guy here in KC that has been a helicopter pilot and news caster for 40 yrs so he is a pilot and tv/radio guy at the same time

hows that different than his claim

I've been trying to work that one out, too.

It's called fake news.

There's a specific legal distinction. Trump just used the same authority he used for the border wall emergency. Wait till the libs figure that out.
the border wall is about national security and this is about a private company

and last I heard we have not gone full communist/fascist,,, yet
That's because we have a good President who plays by the Constitution's rule, and not Fancy Nancy's. :iyfyus.jpg:

but the constitution doesnt have a place that gives POTUS that authority,,,you may be thinking of the russian constitution
Who do you think controls the airspace over any country?

GOD!!!
If that’s the case, why didn’t G-d prevent planes from crashing into the World Trade Center?

Did you have to tell her like that, Mike?

Maybe it's called Boeing being p.o.'d that their buddy trump put their planes on the ground after only two measly accidents that they were TRYING to fix. Blame the government, particularly Congress; no one will argue with that.

That article said the FAA counseled the President to ground the planes, Puppz. Maybe you should reword your title?

Nope. The grounding is a result of a presidential EO not an FAA directive. The FAA has the legal power to do ground 'em. They balked...Trump did it.
Why are they grounded? I mean there is no problem identified, if no problem is found will they be dismantled?

I'm not a mind reader,,,but it sounds like the government cant do a better job, in fact the gov was the ones that failed their self imposed authority in that one

Well they did a better job than G-d that day. That at least tried to prevent more hijackings by grounding every flight. What did G-d do other than sit back and watch?

not sure where airplanes are gods job,,,and what the gov did was a little to late in the big picture,,

and at this point I dont see humans as being deserving of his protection

If the cause is pilot error, the FAA isn't on the hook......tRump is.

Because airplanes soar through airspace and you said G-d controls that space. Seems to me that, no, the government controls that space. Just as every other country.

Apparently the fact that I am arguing it is somehow lost on you. I suppose you blame Reagan for the PATCO bluff failure too?
