It was interesting watching the democrat party evolve through the 70's into the 80's. Then It started evolving again in the 90's and early 00's. Then it fully became the democrap party that it is today. The really funny thing is the old school democrats of the 70's and 80's had the right ideas and ruled the Overton Window, they just lacked the right people to fight off the old school conservatives who ruled the DC establishment and were the darlings of Big Money. Instead of develop internal talent, they decided to beat the conservatives at their own game and courted Big Money and starting capturing more of the DC establishment. They were the Pelosi/Biden democraps and were very successful in converting the democrap party into the pro-establishment Big Money loving party they are today. Hillary Clinton and her ilk ushered in the the current type of democrap I like to affectionately call the Neo-Leftist.

The party sticks together and loses to Republicans for some time to come

The party fragments, with Progressives going their own way, leaving democrats with 75% of their former selves and the 25% of Progressives going the way of other minority parties, fighting to just get 5% of the general election vote - allowing Republicans to win for some time to come.

I suspect progressives have surged in their numbers, and definitely are the tail that wags the dog.

Recall that Biden actually ran largely on Bernie Sanders' platform back in 2020 in order to garner his support.

He then largely exercised it via the Green New Deal and wide open borders. (Which, ironically, used to be anathema to the Bernie Bros....)

The Establishment sold out to socialism literally years ago at this point - it's just becoming even more obvious now with each passing day.

Which bodes well for MAGA.

Looking at recent history, Trump has made significant gains among Black, Hispanic, Asian American and young voters in his three campaigns. The best that was offered by democrats amounted to “orange man bad” and the “Hitler” and “ fascism”slogans and flailing their Pom Poms in support of government bureaucratic wasteful spending and making heroes of criminal illegals.

Surprisingly, a substantial portion of the party is entirely on board with Marxist ideology, self-loathing and self-destruction. Democrats are perfectly fine with their party acolytes burning down their cities.

Yeah. I hate to see the progs win local elections but they are just local elections. Nationwide, in general elections, they are a super small minority. If there's anything the Dem party can do, it's not in Trump's best interests to have them dump Pelosi, Schumer, and other dinosaurs.

The would mean that they're reorganizing to be more socially acceptable and then guage the popularity of that in Americans who are looking for a Trump alternative.

Remember, nothing stops fascism in its tracks as effectively as socialism or communism.

I don't believe there's any 'pushing out' going on. I believe it is the natural Metamorphisis of the dimocrap scum larvae into the Adult dimocrap scum Blobfish

It may be uncomfortable for the dimocrap scum currently in power but the evolution of the dimocrap scum party was inevitable. It just had to happen.

Once FDR opened the door, it had to happen. Alger Hiss, the Rosenbergs..... It had to happen. Preordained.

There were times when the inevitable was slowed -- Truman and to a lesser extent, JFK. But it had to happen.

This is the ultimate end to what had to happen. To what the dimocrap scum party has always been -- socialist.

The current dimocrap scum politicians will acquiesce and either show themselves to be the socialists they've always been or, at the very least, not stand in the way of the socialists running the party. Some will retire but not many.
