Yes I have been all over West Point including at the gate the museum. He was discussed as we toured the campus. I believe he died in England. We saw where the huge chain was attacked on the Hudson River to block English ships from passing.

My Army unit in Germany had the Davy Crockett nuclear missile and I finally got to see one at the Museum. They were top secret classified at my Army unit and only those assigned to them got to see them there.

Yes I recall Moynihan. I will look him up to refresh my memory.
I see Government as an analogy as a large ship. And the Senate and house are powering the ship from the sides. But all headed in the correct direction and on time. Now the two parties resemble two ships headed in opposite directions.

Trump is a con-artist and an authoritarian. He's smart when it comes to manipulating people, but that's about the only intelligence he has (same is true of his Apartheid Bro, Elon). They are destroying this country. If they can fuck up so horrendously, so early in his term before a) they have a chance to destroy the country irreparably, and b) before they set up an authoritarian system that's difficult to dismantle, we will be better off for it.

I already know that if you're a Trump voter, you probably think that this is alarmist and nuts. I think the truth will reveal itself in time. I just hope there's something that can be done about it when we have our awakening.

To be fair, the Democratic party failed, too. In different ways. What Trump's stated goals are with respect to tariffs, for example, are not wrong; it's the implementation of them that is incompetent. But the Democrats have themselves to blame as a party when they joined the Reagan/Bush Republican party and began reliably supporting Wall Street over the working class.

How do we end up trusting politicians like that? The field has lost luster, and all politicians are grouped into the same view y citizens. There are many good politicians although some's politics mar the profession.
