But peace negotiations seem to be more likely too now. That would be my preference.

Add to that and imagine more European countries coming to consider the nuclear threat and that causing some of them to bail if Putin goes all in with Russia's military might??

If that happens and Zelensky is perceive to lose this conflict, expect cries of "We Must Do Something" to rise up from the western MSM. That may lead to a NATO incursion into western Ukraine, and there are 100,000 Russian troops in Belarus that will take the fight to Poland's border; then what?

It's hard to say. I think it depends on how much the US dares to escalate the rules that are still more or less adhered to. Russia has accepted the escalations because it's to their advantage to be able to keep the war going with only conventional weapons.
Sooner or late the US will understand that they've facilitated Russia's objective of creating a buffer zone. The buffer zone could be the entire Ukraine.
