The Defense Department initially gave the Army $1 million to change the names, but “that’s not anywhere close to what we need,” Vereen told members of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies.

The renaming involves replacing names not only at the installation gates, but on facilities, streets, numerous smaller signs, and technology, he said.

Ha!.....What's 39 million to rename some military bases which have become completely disassociated, in that their original reference to confederates is completely lost.

It is not like we have massive inflation, huge gov debt, an unbalanced federal budget, military recruitment issues, all time high mental illness, etc., etc., etc to overcome.

Gotta fight those important issues.....Wokeness has no budget.

They should leave Ft. Bragg alone, it was a insult to the South to name a base after that POS in the first place. ;)

Doesnt have to be done overnight

Change the name at the gates and gradually remove the other references to the old base.

It was an insult to have so many US bases named after Confederates

I guess. Though I doubt anyone had any idea that they were, including the people stationed there.

No US military installation should have been named after a Confederate to begin with.
