I don't know why these Progressives call themselves "liberals" when they promote the expansion and shackles of Big Gov, the antithesis of the Enlightment.

We should call progressives the "Counter-Enlightenment"

The Industrial Revolution proved that the capitalists were more dangerous than the government.

When I think of big government, it's not the actual number of people but the amount of power they have over the people.
>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<
EXACTLY !! I AGREE
that is my thoughts exactly, it's NOT the size but the POWER ! , does any other country have the equivalent of our IRS ? is theirs as powerful, mean and vicious as ours ?

i wonder if any liberfool here will agree with you Clementine ?

probly not, they all seem to be stuck in stupid mode. :lmao:

We the People are the government OF the people and FOR the people.

Then why are Progressives like you so upset and trying to change the government? Apparently this government is by and for the people, so the status quo must be what the people want.

Ironic!

It is regressive libertarian utopians like you who are "trying to change the government".

And every change they want to make entails bigger government, more laws, more invasive laws, and the gutting of freedoms and rights. RWs say they are against bigger government but that's not how they vote.

It was the government that invested in the Louisana territories. It was the government that invested in the shipping canals. It was the government that invested in the land for the railroads. It was the government that invested in schools and public libraries. It was the government that invested in the electrification of rural areas. It was the government that invested in dams and hydroelectric power. It was the government that invested in the highways and bridges. It was the government that invested in the Internet. It was the government that invested in space exploration. It is the government that is investing in alternate energy just like it invested in nuclear energy.

You do know that we had roads, transportation, hospitals, schools and some great inventions before government took the reigns over all that, don't you?

We pay taxes for the government to maintain our roads, bridges and police!
We pay taxes for the government to invest in our country.

I wouldn't want your idea of small government...As it is just useless and stupid.
We pay taxes so government can invest in studies of Chinese hookers and airports for no one.
Goverment doesnt invest anything. Government gets no return on investment. Government takes money via taxes and spends it on shit. Usually useless shit.
Companies invest money on new products and processes that make our lives better.

You're speaking about Progressives, right? Who put in laws to limit smoking? Who put in laws to regulate soda size? Who put in laws to regulate which light bulbs you could buy? Which side put in regulations on what features your car had to have? O and on.

The first tribal societies had a form of government. They couldn't function without it. Every herd, pride, flock, etc has a leader. That is government in it's most basic form. What we have today is just an extrapolation to meet the needs of a civilized society.

So no, you are wrong, government was around when all of those things came about.

Your ignorance is palpable.

From the very outset of this nation the government invested in public schools and libraries because the founding fathers understood that only an educated population could govern itself. Too bad your home schooling deprived you of that part of your education.
