Question? What does the word divinity mean, and where does it come from

images (20).webp

  1. the quality of being divine; divine nature.
  2. deity; godhood.
  3. a divine being; God.
  4. (sometimes lowercase), the Divinity, the Deity.
  5. a being having divine attributes, ranking below God but above humans.

    minor divinities.
  6. the study of divine things; theology.
  7. godlike character; supreme excellence.

divinity

c. 1300, "science of divine things, theology;" late 14c., "quality or character of being divine," also "a divine being, God," from Old French devinité (12c.), from Latin divinitatem (nominative divinitas), from divinus "of a god," from divus "of or belonging to a god, inspired, prophetic," related to deus "god, deity" (from PIE root *dyeu- "to shine," in derivatives "sky, heaven, god"). Figurative meaning "that which is divine in character or quality" is from 1640s.

Divine is a label that we apply to what we think worthy of that label.

I do not think it can be applied to the Trinity because a genocidal God does not fit the divine label. Genocidal draws more of a Satanic label.

The Trinity would be Satanic as it kills when it could just as easily cure.

Not that that fools concept can ever be understood.

Yes, I see, but use your own thoughts, use your belief, deep thinking

Your title of this thread is 'The Christ'. Yet you make no mention of Him in your opining post.

So, what is your real question and why do you beat around the bush?

I already know. You know the phrase; it is I who know, and for you to find out
Everything is about how to find and seek knowledge of divinity

Well, when you title the thread, 'The Christ', all must be based upon the Bible. Not upon dictionary definitions or other religions gods.

It's your title. You made it. Will you stick by it? I have my doubts.

Yes indeed, I am bound to that name. I never use a dictionary, only scriptures like the bible and manuscripts, and create them

You must be bound by the 'Person' of Christ.

No...not 'like the bible and manuscripts'. Only the Bible. Which you have no intention of doing.

You see. You are deceptive at the start. Not hard to see through you.

divinity is desert slang for above the ordinary, the concept used by their monarchical religion.

the 1st century events, repudiation of the desert's servitude and denial stresses monotheism, all are equal who reside in the heavens.

Because of your unbelief, no one may enter the Kingdom of God, because of your unholiness and offending the Holy Spirit, this is the result of your actions

Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore, your sin remains.
John 9:41 (KJV)

And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
John 9:39

'And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.
Lev 26:18-20

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:18

'And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

not an ounce of truth for any the above quotes written by the crucifiers nor ever spoken by the 1st century itinerant, crucified without the objection from a single follower ... the corruption of judaism.
