Uh, they put out a retraction within 24 hours. That’s because the woman was passing along a story she had heard. That does not demonstrate a lie, but more like sloppy journalism.

Except that they A) put out an inflammatory story without corroboration B) they waited to retract it (which one does not need to do in the internet age) and did so quietly. The video you posted explains how this is part of the problem.

One wonders what new source of information came out that suddenly opened their eyes. If only they had that source a day earlier. I wonder why they didn't wait until they investigated. Oh, by the way, I also teach journalism.

That's the video that was posted to make the argument. If that video doesn't support the claim, the answer isn't to say "well, there are other videos." The answer is to reevaluate the claim.
