In the senate race in cal, no republicans were running. These Orange County races were most all tight, so it’s not a hopeless situation. I don’t have time to research every race but I think one of the lessons is you can’t be squishy and expect to win. Secondly, trump has pulled some Dems closer to the center in order to win their contests. The republicans in Congress were generally pussies who would not support aggressive conservative legislation and accomplished next to nothing in two years. At first they expected trump to be gone in six months and then they were in disbelief because he was successful. Paul Ryan was a feckless speaker and flake, McCain, and corker voted their egos instead of conservative policy. Their failure to energetically support trumps four pillars immigration policy was a huge mistake. Not addressing the medical insurance problem proved to be a big mistake, a plan that should have been on the presidents desk one month after inauguration.

Maybe republicans are toast in California, I don’t know. People who are dissatisfied will change the way they vote in both parties. Republicans that only deal in money issues will be climbing uphill. Dems who want to go socialism will be doing the same. I have not thrown the towel in on nothing getting done in the next two years. Trump may be able to play divided govt. better than a one party rule, as I feel there is a nucleus of new Dems who want to get something done. California has not been in the republican family since Reagan so not all that much has changed.
