Opposing Authoritarian Ideological Fundamentalism.
Something hit me this morning as I was thinking about the reaction to the Colorado court ruling on Trump, and I thought I'd toss it out here to see your opinions (amongst the standard personal insults and name-calling).

Growing up in the Bay Area, I was a big Oakland Raider fan back in the day. Their reputation was always The Bad Guy, and we just loved that. We loved backing The Bad Guys. And certainly America loves its Anti-Heroes, particularly in our movies and teevee shows. I'll bet all of us can think of a few Bad Guy Anti-Hero movies and characters we've enjoyed, from Pirates of the Caribbean to Scarface to Pulp Fiction.

Anyway, those judges in Colorado did what they figured they had to do. But I expect this Supreme Court to throw it out, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Trump's popularity increase because of this, when all is said and done.

Thoughts?

i have no doubt all the justices will demonstrate wisdom and restraint. the most honorable justice thomas has gotten over ginny's ongoing affair with the defendant, hasn't he?

I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't shoot this puppy down.
i think trump may have a point on this one. the intent of the 14th amendment was clearly accomplished with the death of the last confederate.

on the other hand, a society that regards an oath or a vow so casually needs to stop bragging about gods exceptional love long enough to consider their use of his name in vain.

My reaction is: you've become the cult you hate. Because you don't give a fig about rogue judges making stuff up like this now. All you care about is the REACTION of Magas.

Pathetic, yet poetic perfection Mac. You deserve to become what you hate--we've certainly warned you often enough.

Yes

Why did you waste time and effort to tell us what is blindingly obvious ?

Any more childhood memories that shaped your life and might bore us?

a president was elected, you voted for him, because his only policy was to "pwn the libs." now mac is "pathetic poetic perfection" for becoming the thing you helped determine was a desirable quality.

pathetic.

I've been reading a lot about the asymmetry in American politics. This is yet another example.

On the one hand you have a poster decrying the notion of partisans finding upsetting the other side as a goal into it's own. Something Mac didn't do in this post. Considering if anything his premise being an expression of doubt in this ruling.

Yet I've seen this particular poster making it abundantly clear she finds using the power of the government to exact revenge on the Democrats as a desirable goal.

Trump is factually fighting only Conservative Americans - not those Democrats or Liberals who oppose a human scumbag anyway.
Any Conservative American who can see through the human scumbag, he defames and attacks with his known pathetic rhetoric.

As such IMO, it is the Conservative Americans - that will provide a second humiliating election result for him. Since a true Conservative American will never vote for a constant liar, multiple adulterer and a Presidential Candidate, that associates himself with e.g. the LGBTq community.

A Republic would not have what we are seeing. A Democracy means after the voting is done the people elected do as they please. The infection goes to the unelected also. The men and women in politics are so far from what the founding fathers spoke of and wrote in their documents, that they would go to war with them. If nothing else, Trump told you what the agendas are, and the Prog Socialists know it and we all know it and they still get support. If Prog voters cannot see what they are doing to Trump, then the dictatorial government that the Progs have enforced on people will be deserved when all politicians enforce the laws already passed.

Trump will win, the Leftists will destroy all the cities coast to coast, sparking the civil war, and Mac will STILL say, "What do the MAGAS think? How are they reacting?"

Well then, if the elites force Haley on the voters, Progs will win in a landslide. Trump is not about anti-gay, he is not anti-Christian though like Progs.

I'm sure as hell no lawyer, but if that court is basing the decision in part on his role in the Insurrection, that determination has not been made by a court as yet. So I don't know if THEY have the power to do that or not. That seems doubtful.

I could see this backfiring to some degree. As usual.

She's one of the many folks here to whom I refer in the OP. All they know is attacks and insults. Life appears to be an ongoing radio talk show for them.

Boring.

It depends, as you well know onto the GOP nomination and election results - IMO Trump. therefore will be their Candidate.

Which brings us to the election in November 2024 - with either loads of Conservative simply not voting - thus giving the Democrats the necessary leverage, or (I don't believe it to be likely) will vote against him aka for the opposition.

Neither those Lefty&Libs nor a scumbag like Trump is what the USA really needs or can continue to endure without taking further damage.

Well you loved it as long as you were winning. When the Pistons were not winning rings, they were just a bunch of thugs. The Trailblazers who were loved in the 90s for getting to the NBA Finals became the Jailblazers. If you're winning, you're a tough guy who doesn't take shit. If you're losing, you're a bad joke that nobody takes seriously. Look no further than Vivek for an object lesson in being a hemorrhoid on the ass of humanity.

When it comes to our presidential politics, it's a different cat than other elected offices; you can get millions fewer votes and still win the election. So you can be an asshole and, if you get enough votes from the voters in certain states, you win. Its rather flukish that the blob won but he did win. Hopefully the experiment with him taught us all the politics is a profession (an important one at that)...and it is best left to the professionals who think past the next election cycle, realize that they are the president of the entire nation; not just the ones who voted for them, and someone who really understands the job; not just thinking it's a cool gig.

I'm guessing no. But the signs lately have been pretty positive for the opposition party and the opposition candidates.
