Dershowitz says the Ukraine (and China) "investigation" isn't a crime or impeachable
So what? You just named one person who is a notorious trump propagandist.

Alan Dershowitz is a respected Harvard Law Professor.
Maybe the progs consider him "notorious" for calling their "articles" bullshit, but no one is more versed in the Law. I also have another distinguished Law Professor's opinion backing up what Dershowitz said. So unless you have two distinguished Law professors backing up your assertions, you need to consider the "impeachment inquiry" a partisan lynching that's going nowhere in the senate. Its just partisan bullshit.

Portman ...still says impeachment is too extreme,

So I'm only seeing one potential GOP senator voting for removal, nowhere near the 20 needed for removal.
Please remember that Trump has a 95% approval rating among GOP voters, and no senator is dumb enough to cross GOP voters and donors.

Impeachment is a partisan lynching that needs to be opposed. Its that simple.

Half of these Senators are from purple or Blue states. To be elected or re-elected Senator in many of these states requires support from a wide group of Republicans, Independents, and Democrats. Many Senators may also change their minds once they view all of the evidence. The idea that they are just going to march behind Trump because they are Republicans is false. You may get that in the House of Representatives where congressional districts are often very much for or against one particular party, but on the State level for Senators, its a different ball game.

Also, the latest polling data shows that 14% of registered Republicans support impeaching and removing Trump from office. So that shows support for Trump among GOP voters is below 86%.

Impeachment is guaranteed to happen. The House will eventually vote to impeach Trump. The Senate will then take the matter up. The Senate will decide whether or not to remove Trump from office. At this point, I think between 5 and 10 Republican Senators will vote to remove Trump from office. So a majority of the Senate will vote to remove Trump from office, but it will fall short of the 67 needed. That's where I think things ultimately stand now. That could change in the coming weeks or months though. Trump is in danger of being removed from office. Its not something that is impossible or something that he is immune from. It is a very real possibility.

02. Mitt Romney - Utah

07. Lamar Alexander - Tennessee
08. Pat Roberts - Kansas
09. Mike Enzi - Wyoming
10. Marco Rubio - Florida
11. Joni Ernst - Iowa

The first five will be enough to extend the trial and call more witnesses in the Senate. They can also vote to remove Trump giving the Democrats a majority of the Senate, short of the 67, but still a powerful symbolic majority.

Manchin is really a Republican but lives in a state where being a Republican and running for the Senate is unheard of!

It is just like Bloomberg was a Republican mayor of NYC and is now running for president as a DEM. Political expediency!

The current count in the Senate is 53 GOP and 47 Dems/Inds.

There may be a few adjustments to that count:
1. Does Mike Pence need to recuse from breaking 50-50 vote ties? What happens if he recuses and the vote is 50-50? (motion passes or fails??)
2. Would the 4 senators running for president also need to recuse: Bernie, Kamala, Cory, and Klobuchar???

That would make the count: 53 GOP to 43 dems/Indys

No GOP senator will break ranks or they will lose their job in the next GOP primary.

This is how I would rank the Republican Senators in terms of how likely they are to vote to remove Trump from office.

As of right now, I think only about 11 of them have any significant or real chance of voting against Trump in the Senate.

I think the Democrats will be able to count on the following Republican Senators to do the right thing and vote to remove Trump:

01. Susan Collins - Maine
02. Mitt Romney - Utah
03. Cory Gardner - Colorado
04. Lisa Murkowski - Alaska
05. Ben Sasse - Nebraska

The following six have maybe a 50% chance of voting against Trump:

07. Lamar Alexander - Tennessee
08. Pat Roberts - Kansas
09. Mike Enzi - Wyoming
10. Marco Rubio - Florida
11. Joni Ernst - Iowa

The first five will be enough to extend the trial and call more witnesses in the Senate. They can also vote to remove Trump giving the Democrats a majority of the Senate, short of the 67, but still a powerful symbolic majority.

Mr. Turtle was interviewed on this, and he expects no Republican traitors whatsoever. In fact, the real thought is that some Democrat senators like Sen. Manchin may well decide to do the right thing and vote to exonerate President Trump.

Well then Putin's penetration of the U.S. government was greater than I thought. I never thought the party of REAGAN would let a former KGB operative get away with all this shit.

That's what I started with, but a few people got added in. I hope it does not hurt you or cause you to much distress.

WOW, I didn't know that the Republican party had turned into the NAZI party. So much for freedom and independent thought.

There is NO need to break a 50 to 50 tie, because this is the SENATE where to remove the President, you need 67 votes.

I think the Democrats can get 4 Republicans to break with their party on this and give the Democrats a majority. It won't do anything to TRUMP, except that the symbolism of both houses voting to remove Trump with clear majorities will be damaging for his election prospects.

Why would it distress me? If find it amusing. For the record, your 20 started with 23. Lol! It’s your silly list. Enjoy.

Democrats fall in love, and Republicans fall in line. That's an oldie but still a goodie. No Republican senator will vote for removal, there are no impeachable offenses, no matter how much lipstick the dems try to put on it.

There will be many votes of senators besides on the articles of impeachment, votes on witnesses, votes on evidence, and such. If/when Roberts makes a ruling, it can be overturned by a simple majority vote of senators. Now I'm seeing that there will be no recusals, so I'm not sure where Mike Pence fits in, so I assume he still breaks 50-50 ties.

Not sure you heard, but the current vote count in the House is only 218 votes for impeachment. There are at least 15 "NO" votes from democrat House members. All Trump needs is 3 more defections and impeachment fails. Stay tuned.

There will never be 4 GOP defections in the Senate. Especially Sue Collins and Cory Gardner. They are up this year and probably would like to be part of the Trump wave in November. I'm predicting the largest voter turnout in history. Some democrats House members are abandoning their sinking ship already, they see that the 31 democrats who won in Trump districts are toast in 2020.

When the Founders put in the option for impeachment and removal of a President, it was for the abuse of power, treason and crimes Trump engaged in when it came to his actions in Ukraine. Donald Trump with held approved military aid to Ukraine in order to get Ukrainians to do his bidding, in digging up dirt on Joe Biden and announcing in public they were going to investigate Joe Biden. That violates Federal Election Campaign laws of the United States, because it is soliciting a foreign government or entity to interfere in a United States Democratic Election. The CIA whistleblower, ambassador Bill Taylor, Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman were A-political public servants who knew what was being done was WRONG, and abuse of power and a risk to national security.

It is a THREAT to the United States to have a president willing to put U.S. national security at risk for HIS own personal gain.

The Republicans in congress have bought into Russia conspiracy theory's created by Russia's FSB(formally the KGB). It is a Russian creation that Ukraine tried to interfere in the U.S. 2016 election in order to cover and deflect their own proven interference in the 2016 U.S. election. Sadly the Republican members of congress are doing precisely what PUTIN wants them to do.

Finally, if Donald Trump was really concerned about corruption in Ukraine, why are the only acts of alleged corruption that he wants to investigate involved Joe Biden and his son? Most people with just a little bit of common sense can see through that is lie that Trump actually cares about anything to do with Ukraine, except when it comes to helping his re-election campaign.

If no Republican in the House or the Senate vote to impeach and remove Donald Trump, then the PARTY OF REAGAN is completely dead. Reagan Republicans would NEVER let the Russians get away with these things as well as continuing to serve Russian interest.

1. Trump asked Zelenksy to work with AG Barr to investigate Burisma, which all of Schiff's witnesses said was very corrupt. Trump is required by law to ensure that all US aid is not subject to corruption. Why the feigned outrage? Afraid the Biden's corruption will be exposed?

It is a THREAT to the United States to have a president willing to put U.S. national security at risk for HIS own personal gain.
1. That's just a lie. The US military and national security is MUCH stronger under Trump. Trump also gave Ukraine lethal aid, including Javelin anti-tank missiles, instead of blankets that Obama sent when the fighting was the fiercest. There was no personal gain for Trump, unlike for Biden who apparently got some nice kickbacks of US aid.

The Republicans in congress have bought into Russia conspiracy theory's created by Russia's FSB(formally the KGB). 1. There are multiple published op-eds from Ukrainian leaders that prove interference in the 2016 elections, and the "black ledger". It is not a Russian conspiracy, it is a proven fact. No one claims the Ukrainian meddling is as severe as Russia's, but it did happen.

"Hey, Vlad, this is Donald! I need to you to hep me cover up the fact that we are actually gay lovers, can you do that for me?

How?. Uh, how about I have my guys kill 300 of your mercenaries in Syria? Oh, I can slap incredible sanctions on your to kill your economy when you do something the Dems don't like?

I just though of an even better one! I am going to sell Javelin missiles to the Ukrainians to kill your tanks despite the fact that your troops haven't moved past areas that were all ethnic Russian.

Can you do that for me Vlad? Gee thanks!

No, I didn't have a transcript made for this call. After the Dems had a shit hemorrhage after my last call to Zelensky, what do you think they would do if they found out I know you like spooning after sex?

Thanks again, Vlad! I knew I could count on you to take it up the ass and still smile about it!

Your best butt buddy forever, Donald

P.S. We have got to make it look like Pence is involved somehow, but a threesome won't work! He's just too uptight for that!"
