In rightard world maybe. In the real world, such as in 1929, the stock market crash began the economic collapse which led to the Great Depression. The Deflation, bank runs, and freezing of money followed. That was a case where government didn't do enough to prevent the economic collapse from turning into the massive depression it became. Learning lessons from that, the Obama administration pumped money into the economy to prevent another depression like the last one.
