Inflation doesn't cause its damage overnight; it can take months for it to work its way through supply chains. Yours is a perfect example. Here's a perfect example of that "Inflation",.... My Daughter bought a ranch style home recently for $208,000. That home, built in 1979 was sold for $79.000

Another example is that my Mom, in 1972 bought a brand new Ford Maverick with a 302 engine for $1999.00,... That car today, would cost more than $20,000!
