Anyone see the Austin Matthews ridiculous backhand OT winner in tight against the Jets? What a crazy finish to a game the Leafs dominated but faced a crazy goalie performance.

If you aren't watching the NHL now, Matthews should give you a reason to. He's from Arizona also, the desert. What a story.

Matthew may not be Mario, but he is ours, for at least the new 3 years or so and hopefully longer. He and Marner will both be in the Hall of Fame if they stick together for their careers, or the majority of it.

6'3 centre with a better shot than Mario and he worked out on the ice with Connor McDavid this offseason and has thus lost 15 pounds and added a puck carrying element to his game. The backhand winner in OT last night from that tight was elite. I watched Sundin do the same many times, but not with that much authority on the short side.

It will be interesting to see what he does at the Olympics
