They are denying students the real novel and the time they could be spending on the novel itself, and substituting substandard ideology talking points and commentary that have nothing to do with the actual story or what makes it compelling.
Parents, and school boards, don't like it when teachers dumb down their kids with garbage while pretending to teach something else entirely. Teachers need to do their jobs or go get on foodstamps, the losers.
