"The distraught father of a Texas girl who was raped lashed out at a judge this week after a 22-year-old defendant who was convicted of the crime received a light sentence, according to a report."

I fully expect the 'justice' part to come after the rapist is released.

What do y'all think?

Reading that he only got a half-year sentence seems very light, and I would be inclined to agree with the father's sympathies.

But there seem to be some things missing in the report.
Hon described the crime as a serious case with a dangerous perpetrator, FOX 26 reported. He said Binnion followed the girl into a hotel room, where she had gone with others to pick up some supplies for a July 4 gathering. He then forced her onto a bed and attacked her, the prosecutor told FOX 26.

What was the testimony of the girl's friends at the gathering? Why did they leave her alone?

I think the father's accompanying plea for better judges by the citizen voters is a pipe dream that too many American's believe in - it is extremely difficult to know the qualifications for judges, much less, know how judges are going to sentence convictions based on their campaign slogans.

I do not think it is a good idea to endorse vigilante justice on social media.

It's the same here in the UK that more often than not these rapists and sex offenders (notably peadophiles and folk caught with child porn) seem to get really light sentences.

It's made me wonder for a long, long time if the heads of prosecution, heads of the Police, the judges etc are all into this shit themselves. It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Every now and again it's as if they'll make an example of one - like a sacrificial lamb - but on the whole these sentences for the worst folk on earth are baffling.

Perfect example, a few years ago :

Hamilton court in Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Same court.
Same Judge.
Within the period of 1 week.

Offender 1 - a football supporter who was arrested for singing a song that some folk may have found offensive - 4 months in jail.
Offender 2 - a guy who touched a child and was caught with thousands of indecent images of children on his computer - community service.

Let that sink in.

hmmmmm...

he was 19 at the time and the girl was 14...

Seems like a classic case of willful participation in statutory "rape" to me. Looks like darling daughter is playing victim.

But, I am just speculating.

Yeah, there just isn't enough to comment beyond this.

Expressing one's shock of an unfavorable court decision is a far cry from taking the law into own hands.

If the perpetrator isn't given any further special treatment, anything could happen especially if time with the lifers is in the card deck.

God bless you and the victim and her family always!!!
