All states are turning blue. The more urbanized the country becomes, the more liberal. That's because conservative policies and attitudes don't work in cities. Rural poverty is due to sloth and addiction. Abuse of social programs is rampant in rural communities and these voters assume the same thing is true in the city.

I see it here since I moved from Toronto. The local druggies and welfare scammers sitting around the town square in the summer time. People claiming to be separated, having a drop box address, to get double the welfare.

But urban poverty has nothing to do with drugs or sloth. It has to do with low wages and high living costs. You can live and work in the city without a car using public transit, and there are lots more jobs. There are also more public recreation centres and programs. But rents are high, as are child care costs, assuming you can find child care. Low wage service workers can survive better in the cities because there are more services available to them, and more opportunities as well. But also more risks for themselves and their children from crime, bad influences, or people looking to take advantage of poor and vulnerable people.

Instead of working together to find solutions that work for both urban and rural areas, politicians have divided the nation along the lines of rural and urban, and that division will always end with the urban areas expanding into the rural areas and taking over.

Demonizing liberals is backfiring utterly and making conservatives batshit crazy.
