This is reprehensible voter suppression. Why can't Trumpettes simply resign themselves to a fair and square election in what will be a closely contested state?

Gov. Greg Abbott threw the weight of his office Thursday behind Republican efforts to limit options for Texas voters who want to hand-deliver their completed absentee ballots for the November election — a rebuke to some large, Democratic counties that have set up multiple drop-off locations in what they call an effort to maximize voter convenience.
The Republican governor issued a proclamation directing counties to designate just one location for ballot drop-offs, and allowing political parties to install poll watchers to observe the process.

Freaking unreal
The new order will reduce Harris County Drop off locations from 12 to one, a move called “haphazard.”
“In a county that is larger in size than the state of Rhode Island, these additional locations meant access for voters who want to ensure that their ballot is properly returned to the clerk’s office,” Hollins said. “...This haphazard decision by Gov. Abbott to change the rules of the game is confusing to voters and will serve to suppress Texas votes.”
Hollins pointed out that some people in the far outskirts of the county will have to drive over 50 miles if they want to drop off their ballot.
“To force hundreds of thousands of seniors and voters with disabilities here in Harris County, and millions of voters across the state of Texas, to use a single drop-off location in these massive counties is not only prejudicial, but it’s dangerous,” Hollins said.

What are you frightened of? That the Democrats aka Leftists now have less opportunities to steal Texas via Main-In Ballot Harvesting?

I believe the Governor is being sued at this time over this.

I believe for large counties there should be four drop off locations but I also believe the person voting must deliver it themselves...

What does a drop-off location cost the state of Texas - A hundred bucks per ... MAYBE?
There is only ONE motivation for doing this - And Abbott knows what that is ...
Apparently he feels indebted to Dear Donald for his quick response on getting him PPE, testing and such.
An accommodation not provided to D governors.
Complete BS!

As I wrote there were two lawsuits that I know about to stop Abbott and I believe there should be four locations in counties like Harris...

As for Abbott motive, I am not venturing a guess and just will say he had his reason why...

The republicans seem to be determined to keep Americans from voting. How un-American.
Like how Republican Governor Newsome in California signed a law to allowing fewer polling places?

Linkage please

I don't see how this limits voter access - But okay ;)

Under Senate Bill 423, counties will still have to offer a voting location for every 10,000 voters and, if they choose to consolidate polling sites, allow in-person voting for three days before the election.

Texas has 100 counties.

One per county. So people have to drive XXX number of miles to use one. I guess they are trying to curb that blue wave that is a coming.

It is like the building of levees in New Orleans to keep the water from overflowing. It worked well until it was crushed by the overflow
