Terrorism Averted In Alabama, Who Will Be Attacked Next?

Divers under water making inspections and repairs to a damn in Alabama which supplies all of the water to Mobile Alabama holding some 17 billion gallons of water just discovered a bomb planted there, apparently set by someone intending to blow the entire damn up.

The explosive device has been removed and detonated safely as the FBI and other agencies are brought in to investigate. The Alabama damn was a part of critical federal infrastructure. I have been expecting stuff like this and authorities need to inspect all critical infrastructure like damns, bridges, power stations and plants, key buildings and the like. My gut tells me this isn't the only thing out there and that enemies of this country, both without like Iran, China, etc., and within like the radicalized violent, crazy far-left, could both be working together on efforts to attack this country.

Time to key up security big time both now and going into the future.

Well, let me say two things:

1. I'm no mechanical engineer but I know enough about material science and have had friends who were mechanical engineers to have little confidence in that 3 Gorges Damn. Sure, it is standing, is very impressive and has been around now for close to a decade, but the design is horrible and ill-conceived IMO.
2. At least now we know why China seized Tibet years ago and drove out the Dalai Lama, Panhen Lama and the Tibetan government: they had their eyes on that Tibetan gorge. These people are absolutely crazy building this thing right over the fault that joins India to China; they are literally depending on the stability of a region over the next century which created (and is still creating) the Himalayas.

I'll give China credit for their vast ambition and engineering, but I've heard they use shitty concrete and often skimp on rebar. These are projects that never would be green-lighted in the USA for obvious safety and environmental concerns, but unlike in the USA where such things are rigorously adhered to, China really doesn't give a crap about people and wildlife. If a damn breaks and millions die or whole species of plant and animal are destroyed, who is going to complain or do anything about it? They will write it off as just part of the risks of doing things. To the Chinese, people are just a commodity like rice.

And they never asked India nor Bangladesh about any of this neither, who could see their countries and own ecostructure and economies devastated by this new damn, but then, China doesn't care--- they do what they want for themselves and have no consideration whatsoever for anything standing in their way--- a not-so-small-fact the Chinese are making clear to Trump right now.

I guess it depends on whether they were able to determine whether the thing was just place there days ago or maybe months ago. Since I assume this was not their first time down there inspecting and repairing, it must have been placed during the interval between inspections. Then there is the possibility that bad actors and enemies of America like Iran, China, N. Korea etc., have not been planning on targeting us for many years. Iran has made two attempts on Trump's life I think.

Bad people have been trying to target our communications, energy grid, infrastructure, government, military, etc., for a long time--- every vital target from power stations, damns, bridges, plants, etc., should all be under constant surveillance with people and technology constantly checking for sabotage, and not just cyber communications, internet, etc.

Much of the internet still travels globally by undersea cables and I recently heard that these have been attacked too, cut, damaged, cut into, and that there were ties to the PRC.

If this damn in Alabama was targeted, what about the big ones like Hoover? Those divers were down there inspecting and repairing--- I sure hope they were down there looking for sabotage as well, I'd sure be real disappointed if at this stage of the game, our authorities were still this asleep at the wheel.

The fact that someone was able to get right up to the damn, swim there, swim down under the water and plant this thing on a damn supplying all the water to a major metropolitan area and not be detected in real time when they were doing it is already a serious lapse of security IMO. What if that thing had been installed a week ago and was set to go off an hour later? This is really shabby security IMO, the kind that just invites subterfuge. How was someone even able to gain access to so vital a structure? Perceived weakness always invites others to test the efficacy of one's defenses, and there are a lot of people out there wanting to take a shot at the USA, knock us down a peg, including many living right here in the USA. If I were the governor of that state, ever who is in charge of the authority handling that damn, they would have been fired right now.

It really burns my ass how the shabby governmental laxness in this country continually verifies the contempt the Chinese have for us--- the Chinese consider us nothing but a big, corrupt house of cards, a fruit tree ripe for easy pickings, and that we have no principles nor integrity, and that we can just be bought out anytime they need and sloppily just give away vital secrets and technology to others. It should be impossible to gain access to the actual structure of a damn. Gates, fences, security cameras, guards. And if someone is buzzing around near the damn, they should be alerted immediately and have search lights and guards with high powered rifles. Some years ago, I was a security supervisor at an infrastructure that had huge security issues (don't want to be too specific so as to not provide a guidebook for terrorists).

Suffice it to say this place had potential for thousands of people to get killed if attacked by terrorists. The overall synopsis is that security there was a joke. The site was completely vulnerable to attack. It was surrounded by an ordinary chain link fence, with a gate closed up with an ordinary chain & padlock.

One security guard, UNARMED, paid barely above minimum wage, was present. If terrorists arrived & the guard even managed to call the cops, it's doubtful that they would have been able to arrive fast enough to stop a catastrophe.

I went to a County commission meeting and reported this. Nothing was done.
