Guy, I've worked in manufacturing procurement for most of the last 30 years. Here's an ugly truth.
Most of those factory jobs didn't go to China, they were replaced by automation and process improvement. That tube sock was likely made by a machine, not a person.
If we want to compete with China, then we need to make our industry more efficient and nimble. Protecting a factory that isn't efficient isn't the solution.
