It seems that the people of Israel got used to having God around to help them out, and eventually instead of worshiping Him as they had done before, they started to treat God as a relic or a tool, to be used only when they decided they needed Him.

What happened? God left the nation of Israel for a while, and they ended up in a serious hurt locker.
