If these stingy bastards wont offer a decent wage then they should go out of business.
It's funny we say that, but liberals say the government should force companies to raise wages or go out of business
Let the market determine the wage scale when the laws are being enforced.
Letting companies use black market illegal labor is just as bad an abuse of the market as is artificially high minimum wage.
If these idiots cant figure out how to attract legal labor then **** them.
The market always favours the employer, especially at the lower end of the pay scale. There are more unskilled workers vying for fewer jobs.
Because successive Republican Congresses have used earned income credits and food stamps to supplement low income wages, while refusing to raise the minimum wage, this has artificially deflated the wages paid at the lowest end, and essentially shifted the burden of their income supplements to the middle class.
Wages as a percentage of GDP are at their lowest levels since the Guilded Age. Businesses have managed to absorb increased costs for premises, utilities, equipment, raw materials, property taxes, and health insurance for employees, over the past 30 years but cry poor whenever the subject of wages comes up or claim that workers aren't worth more money despite increases in production, management salaries and profits. This is neither logical nor fair to the frontline workers.
It would be cheaper overall to require corporations to increase wages than it is to collect taxes, conduct income assessments and issue benefit checks to those whose income is low enough to require subsidy. The small increase in prices that would result would be more than made up for by the decrease in income taxes required to provide the subsidies currently being paid.
If a business can't afford to pay a living wage to its employees it should go out of business.
