The plan was to lock everyone into buying insurance, than raise the heck out of the cost by forcing more plans to cover more things (why should a 60 year old man, for example, have to pay for maternity coverage?), then when the pain gets severe enough, resurrect Hillarycare and make private contracts with doctors illegal. That's the way it looked when it was rammed through against public opinion, and the perception hasn't changed.

Expand the current Medicare/Medicare Supplement/Medicare Advantage plan to all. Solid government-funded fundamental care (most importantly preventive & diagnostic), combined with true free market competition. Take a massive monkey off the backs of American business by freeing it from having to provide coverage.

But no, that would require open minds and cooperation between the parties. We can't have that.

No...not solved...that makes it worse...nothing gets better when you simply rely on the good feelings of those providing it......Cell Phones didn't get better because you took the profit out of it...cars didn't get better because you took the profit out of it.......medicine needs to be profit driven with more connection between the actual customer paying for the service and the people providing it...that is how you increase quality and lower the cost.......

You want people to give up their youth....from the till they are in their early 30s studying medicine and then to become nothing more than government clock punchers.....would you sacrifice that much of your life for so little reward....and so little respect?

Take government out...increase competition and increase customer-provider interaction and dependence..that is how you improve medicine...

My doctor gets paid a nice office fee, yet spends less than 10 minutes with me, with his assembly lining of patients. I've been dealing with this on going condition of my eyes for 2 fuckin years and have yet to have a cure for it...but I got 2 fuckin years of doctor bills to pay....as a matter of fact medicine is the only profession that gets paid regardless if you feel better or not.

I mean every time I go into the government monopoly called the DMV, I get great service from well trained and responsive people. I am in and out in just a few hours.
