-wants to hold the debt ceiling, and therefore the full faith and credit of the USA hostage over an ideological point

-believes in austerity measures, despite overwhelming evidence from the countries that have tried it that it doesn't work

p.s. if the sequestration cuts happen, your side will get its way. and then you will lose in 2014 like you would not believe. if the dip in the GDP last month was all down to cuts in spending, defense specifically. so yeah, you built that.
