Consider yourself lucky. The unions just shut down most every school in the blue areas of California for an entire school year. My 19 yo daughter still has social anxiety and agoraphobic issues from that time.

One of her cousins basically stopped attending the online classes after a few months. They still promoted her to the next grade.

The teacher unions in California are run by just plain evil fuckers.

I still don't understand why so many people lost their shit over these precautions, knowing this was an evolving epidemic, growing in intensity while researchers were trying to stop the progression of the virus to something more deadly.

And they did, and it was a success. And you people lost your shit.

To me, there were at least two major, major issues:
1) Shutting down everything ... except giant companies like Amazon, Target, etc. It was unfair to small businesses and showed whose thumbs were on the scale. Many of those businesses folded, destroying lifelong dreams by people who had planned on owning one their entire lives.
In addition, the year or two that children weren't in school has put them hopelessly behind in learning and socialization. It doesn't bode well for the future either.
And the "stay 6 feet apart" rule was pulled out of Fauci's ass. He admitted as much.
2) The vaccine. Of very questionable efficacy, and quite possibly dangerous to many, forced upon many people who didn't want (or need) it. People shamed for not getting the jab (look up Jimmy Kimmel's shameless monologue regarding same).
