Not a big fan of The U.S. Constitution I see.

"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
--8th Amendment.

Sadly "just" punishment is considered "cruel and unusual" by many states i.e. the death penalty, which is neither cruel or unusual. Note that the punishment prohibited by the amendment must be both cruel and unusual.
