I decided that when I was 12 years old. The real problem in this world is OVERPOPULATION. Discrimination and stigma , rejection , lack of gender affirming care , violence and victimization , All these things lead to an increased susceptibility to mental illness , in addition to depression and substance abuse which are things that further increase the suicide risk. Yet their rates are still very high, even after transitioning when they discover they still feel terrible. The underlying causes have not been addressed.

Let's put it this way. There is a large minority group in the US that has suffered discrimination, stigma, rejection, violence and victimization for generations, yet have suicide rates the same as other groups. Your "causes" thus fall flat.

It's a mental illness. Surgeries and hormones are not going to make them better. Particularly for kids. Wear dresses for a couple of years, until you are 18, and then you can make your decision.

We don't give fourteen year olds the opportunity to marry.

The right of the majority does not outweigh the rights of any minority and at less than 2% ( most rapidly growing section of our population ) of the population that makes them a very small , vulnerable minority. I would suspect that population to continue to grow to about 20% of the population , then things might balance out and normalize for everyone. The gay population is also rapidly increasing without discrimination and disparity in play I see that population ending up at 25% of the population. Purely heterosexual couples have already dropped below 50%. The demographics are changing rapidly.

I worked with teenagers up until last August when I more or less fully retired at the age of 73. I overhear their conversations at the nursing station while I'm working. You wouldn't believe what they do and what they think of most of their parents. It's a sad reflection on the parents.

It's typical of teenagers because they go through a phase where they think their parents know nothing, are incredibly stupid and just get in the way of the kids having a good time. The answer is not to put the teenagers in charge of their own lives, because, quite frankly, they are by and large idiots who have no clue what their parents went through and how much they actually understand.

As I already said. I LISTEN to what they say and it sounds like the parents are the ones who are idiots most of the time. Along these lines , do as I say , not as I do. Hypocrisy is something they see fight through along with condescending statements. In the end they are more realistic about things. I watched and listened as they went point by point , hearing both sides , through an evaluation.

Everything in life is mental , only seems to be a problem for you. Not a problem for transgender youth , it's a frame of mind and they will get the job done to complete their lives wether you like it or not. It's their lives , NOT yours.

Actually 88% of transgenders felt their lives improved after the operation. That speaks volumes ,despite all the persecution and character assassination attempts , they still feel better about themselves.

That means nothing without some kind of specific metric.

Additionally, how do you decide what was bad before and did it improve in those who didn't transition.
