My opinion of Donald Trump as not a good person was pretty much cemented by this news story.

I understand the political “game of chicken” being played by him and congressional Republicans over the government shutdown, but when he chose to block court-ordered SNAP food benefits—knowing it would delay or deny food assistance to families already waiting more than a week—it crossed a line.

The greed on display is sickening, especially from someone spending public money hand over fist on vanity projects while ignoring what actually contributes to the prosperity and wellbeing of ordinary Americans.

Our government is supposed to be of the people, for the people, by the people. Right now, all most of the people — from the poorest families to the working and middle class—are getting is screwed over.

The Dems want to shut down Kash and Pam.

Good for SCOTUS to tell them they can't have their handouts while doing that...

Yeah its rather bizarre.

First...why did the blob have to be ordered by a court to provide SNAP benefits in the first place (meaning that some party had to file suit to start with). Especially in the light of sending $20B to Argentina.

Secondly...why did the administration appeal the ruling? Do they not want to feed people? Obviously the answer is yes.

BOSTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP food aid payments amid the government shutdown.

It is not the government's job, nor the taxpayers', to feed people except in emergency situations. You guys are too fat anyway.

The government is not there to feed you, wipe your nose, and change your nappy/diaper.

If the government feed me, where's the incentive for me to work, work harder, or work differently to earn money to feed myself and/or my family?

In the UK, folk going into trades is reducing, customers are finding it difficult to find workmen. So there's nothing to stop you retraining into a trade. To be employable, you have to make yourself employable. A friend has been unemployed for over two years, in that time she could have got a student loan and she would be finishing a degree course. That makes her more employable and a small amount would be deducted from her wage per month towards the loan. Has she done this? Nope. Because she's happy to live off the welfare money. Signed off "ill", so the welfare nearly doubled. I put ill in Speech marks because is she bollocks.

Falling back onto benefits, food banks etc.. should be short term to get your backside moving again. Life is not all sunshine and rainbows.
